Kyle Palmieri would be a FORCE on this team. Would be a great lowkey pickup

I think you can get a pick for McGinn

I'd 100% do that Palmieri deal, but I doubt the Devils do

The LA trade is creative though

This is true. As long as he recovers he’ll be on the roster in 21-22. Without the injury he would be in this season.

Yeah, maybe something late for McGinn to a team that needs some depth.

You're right on the Palmieri deal-They could certainly bank of being able to flip one or both of those guys, but I'd imagine they'd prefer picks and prospects for Palmieri.

I think LA would be down to make that deal. Good hockey trade IMO.

Nothing. Redundant with Foegele, Nino, and Marty Party on the roster. With Trocheck, Aho, Turbo, Staal, and Martinook being big PKers, we don’t need him there as much as we used to.

@csick gets all the credit for the LA trade.

NJ needs LHD. Also, if they play Dzingel up in the lineup they can inflate his value for the trade deadline and flip him for a decent return, especially while eating half his hit.

True, but if they move Palmieri, which they likely will (if they don't extend him), then they'll need offense. I don't feel like that leaves them any better off with Skjei than they were with Palmieri.

Skjei for Palmieri isn't really good value on Carolina's end, because of Palmieri's expiring deal. If you deal Skjei, I'd prefer a return similar to what they gave up to the Rangers. With his excellent performance in the post-season so far, if he keeps it up, a team will certainly be willing to pay for it.

Palmieri would have to come with an extension as suggested in the notes.

If that's the case, then sign me up! Palmieri would be an excellent Cane.

Understand your point. The only thing this deal does leave them with is a top 4 LHD on a deal long term. The offense takes a hit but they will see their offense rise just from youth growth. They could get a winger or two in FA, if needed.

Yeah, they could take a run at a guy like, say, Taylor Hall tears of joy.
