Protas Isn't an A prospect, closer to a B- maybe. But it's still an easy no from Toronto. Carlson doesn't add what they need.

I don't think it would. It adds more of a log jam at wing and doesn't address any team needs. Leafs would still pass

addressing you issue of needing a top pairing RHD.... i wouldn't trade Vrana or Wilson. not really a point or need to..

How much different of a player is Vrana than Nylander or Johnsson? ... they play the same style. Wilson is just overhyped and overpaid. Sure he adds physicality, but Leafs don't add players and pay them $5M for just that. & I actually work in hockey, follow hockey a lot. Protas Is most definitely not an A prospect. An a level prospect means someone that is almost guaranteed to be an elite player, Protas is not that. I think you're being pretty bias.

No. Leafs need defensive defensemen, not more offensive guys even if they are elite in that part of the game.

Vrana is miles better than AJ and imo better than or equal to Nylander. WIlson is a better version of Hyman. so yeah. Protas finished with a similar numbers to Cozen and using the words "Almost" and "Guaranteed" kind of contradict your flawed point. He was a top 5 center in his league which would "almost" "guarantee" he will be great. lol

you could achieve that by giving the hawks a 1st for Murphy .... Carlson + Murphy = Marner $$$

    MR Murphy
    Muzz Carlson

Re-read what I said..I never compared skill level, I said how different are they. In terms of play type. & they're not much different. So it makes very little sense for the Leafs to move Marner for players they already have that are similar and cheaper

As much as I love Marner, we can't trade Carlson. Our D is our weak spot, getting rid of him would hurt so much more than what Marner would bring to the offense. And no Protas isn't an A prospect. Just because he posted some really good numbers in the WHL doesn't mean he's going to be a top line center. He's probably a bottom-six guy if he makes it.

agree to disagree on Protas but i agree Carlson is important to the team. i dont see the capitals doing anything crazy this offseason TBH. Marner is just the new whipping boy in Toronto

What do you see in Protas' game that tells you he'll be a top center? I don't see the high end skill or skating for it. He's a smart player but seems like he's just a bit better than the rest of the WHL but not to the extent of being a high end NHLer.

i see a kid that has size and looks to be constantly improving. His biggest negative would be his skating and that has drastically improved from last year. i dont see him struggling to adjust to the NHL at all. most guys struggle bc they are too slow or too small hes neither of those things. from what i see he goes to the net and stops at the net. looks to have an accurate strong shot and a good stick (takeaways) Hes going to start next year in the KHL so thatll give you a better idea of his skill set... maybe not idk how i feel about the KHL. i can easily see him being a Ryan Getzlaf ish player. the WHL stats are similar and they would have a similar build. him and McMichael could easily be a future 1/2 even if he is in a ROR shutdown role. He will beneifit from being around some of the best players in the world and he preseason games with the Capitals he looked very promising.

High end skill guys dont always transition well to the NHL. Cozen and him had similar production in the WHL Cozen shows more high end talent but idk out of the 2 who will have the better career. Dach and Protas could have similar trajectories ... Dach obviously with a higher ceiling but similar game
