Does MIN want to give up all of that for another winger though? He's a fantastic winger, but another winger nonetheless. They desperately need centers and have an abundance of wingers. MIN may be better off in the long run using assets to acquire center help.

One problem I don't think Spurgeon would waive for the pressure cooker that is Toronto.
The other problem is Marner is a soft skill player. Wild got one of those, Mats Zuccarello, hasn't worked out. Kapanen is a better fit but Wild aren't paying this price for him.
I should add that I am aware Marner is better than Zuccarello in every way, just saying it feels like a disaster for the Wild.

I guarantee you that Marner can be shifted to play center ice and be a dominant player. He played alot of center ice for the London Knights and trust me he helped Tkachuk, Domi and Dvorak be great wingers. It is game over for the Blue Jackets tonight as Marner came alive last night and him and Matthews will take over the series tonight. He is without a doubt a highly skilled hockey player and probably the most fun player to watch in the NHL.

Marner is a magnet for fun and is loved by teammates and fans like no other hockey player.
