Try adding 2m to the DeMelo deal. Like you said, it’s a stretch. But I don’t think you realize how much of a stretch it really is.

I don't think that STL trade works for either team. Leafs can't add that much cap without it creating depth issues and Blues can't move Parayko and expect to be better with another scoring winger instead of him.

Read the comments... Doesn't matter where Johnsson goes for pick/prospect. Just chose MTL because they have cap space a extra draft picks. Swap MTL for any other team.

I do... but I think Demelo is criminally under rated around the league, and with a flat cap he may be squeezed into a bargain contract.

The fact the Jets got him at the deadline for only a 3rd, with him having that cheap of a cap hit (i.e. he could fit into any team's cap situation) was an absolute steal. No clue why another team didn't beat that offer. Could be a similar situation this summer.

Anyway... as I said, swap him out if needed. with flat cap, shouldn't be too hard to find a serviceable 3rd pair D for $1.5M.

I think the jets would offer him at least 3m+ for 5 years. They want to resign him

When a lot of people have Parayko Nylander straight up, I dont think the blues want to pick up an unproven player for one of the better face off winners in the league. He just gets taken in the expansion

The idea of including Bozak and Dermott was to give the Blues a bit of Cap Relief needed to re-sign Petro, and give the Blues a low cost Dman to help replace Parayko.

(Not saying Dermott is a like-for-like replacement for Parayko... obviously he's not. Just in the sense it gives them another top 6, potentially top 4 dman in their lineup).

I’d probably pass. There’s no spot for Dermott in our defense. If we resign Petro, our right side would be Petro-Faulk-Bortuzzo. You could make the argument that Dermott plays over Bortuzzo but it’s not like it’s any substantial upgrade. Then looking at Nylander, he’s at a position of depth for use. Tarasenko/Perron/Kyrou are all scoring RWs. Yeah he’d be a huge upgrade on Kyrou rn, but he’s also another guy we’d need to protect in the expansion draft. Blues and Leafs seem to be poor trade partners.
