Brave New World

Description
Looking into shedding some of the obvious cap. Putting trust into the youth of the team, especially on defense. Strome trade addresses a glaring issue (come on hawks fans, Crawford has not been good). Plus, I just don’t have a liking for strome’s all around game.

Seabrook is sat permanently, cuz let’s face it, this team looks so much better without him in the team.

No idea what to do with Shaw simply because if I had it my way he’d never lace up skates again. I genuinely fear for his life with his post concussion syndrome and his playing style.

Assuming the hawks actually beat the oilers, no idea who we’d take in the draft, but in my scenario, We go with a center like lundell if he’s available. Granlund signing is meant to bridge the year or two between lundell being nhl ready. Plus he brings some good speed. Also, I do hope at some point next year kurashev, kalynuk, and even regula get a shot at nhl level. Most of our young prospects have been grown the right way lately. From 2010 to 2017 that really wasn’t the case. Hopefully 2017 to 2020 and beyond proves to be a return to form.

Don’t see the Islanders needing a center, although Sorokin was a huge tease when it was reported he was coming to Chicago in a trade awhile back.

I would trade sorokin for Kubalik as the main pieces, not interested in strome.

Agreed, that rumor really hurt.

I guess the strome trade is meant more as a template. If they don’t want strome, how bout saad? Hawks could add if needed and then the hawks would probably take someone like Seth Jarvis in the draft.

Nah lol - if I was trading sorokin I’d want a young top 6 winger. Saad is very good but he’s not what we need, he’s not a great finisher- we have enough players like that

I think isles trading varlamov would be a lot more realistic than to trading sorokin.. would have trouble believing the Hawks would be in on that but could also see a smaller trade w him as the piece working

Granlund is a RW. I wouldn't mind giving him a 1-2 year deal.

That’s fair, I would say something like Saad and Nicholas beaudin and even a draft pick. That rumor from February still stings considering how close it was “claimed” to be. What are isles needs at this point?

Lundell doesn't make it past Minnesota in the draft.

Draft Askarov if he's available you cowards.

1st of all. The Hawks pick is currently ahead of MIN. We'll see after tonight, but he may not get to MIN. 2nd...stop it.

Maybe I’m showing a little too much faith in youth, but if Saad were involved in a trade with the isles for sorokin, I’d probably forgo granlund and give kurashev a chance. Granlund on a 1 year deal in that case, sure. But if strome is still around, we’d take Jarvis I’d think. Granlund would definitely provide a great stop gap for Jarvis and kurashev to take that next step.

If you beat Edmonton, you're picking 16th. If Montreal wins and you beat Edmonton, you're picking 17th. You know as well as I do the statistical odds against Minnesota winning the next two games against Vancouver.

I'll rephrase then: Lundell doesn't make it past pick 12.

100% agreed. I don't think Sorokin is available. NYI did afterall figure out a way to forego his ELC and sign him to a $2M deal year 1. BUT I'd certainly be willing to negotiate.

Easy chiarelli, kinda high and mighty to call another team cowards for speculating on picks when you single handedly fist ****ed the oilers for 3-4 years with bad trades, picks, and contracts. The hawks, like any other team, will weigh their options. I’d love a more ready goaltender, but askarov is a Possibility.

What do I have to do with anything the Oilers have done over the past ever?

isles need a top 6 winger with shooting talent, so isles would definitely want either Kubalik/debrincat if they are going to trade a potential franchise goaltender.

Yeah I think I wonder where the leak came from

I just find it ironic that you call out other teams for their “cowardly” thoughts on taking certain players yet your namesake has done even more damage to your team. Takes a lot to waste a talent like mcdavid, but you guys are turning into an art form.

Toews, Dach, Lundell, Barratt pretty solid forward depth in another year. If Beaudin and Carlsson are as advertised we can trade both De haan (or expose) and Granlund and have a good amount of cap space, bringing back Saad Father on a $4.5M deal....should be in good shape in 12 months.

This may just be me, but as of now, at least for the next 12 months, I kinda wanna make Saad expendable. Not because he isn’t good, but let’s just listen to offers ya know? De haan is a guy in this series that has gladly made me want to hold to him until at least the expansion draft. Lastly, Barrett is a guy I just want to get faster, that’s the only knock I have on him for now. Same can be said about lundell, but as I’ve grown to love about lundell, he’s just so damn smart he’s always where he should be anyway.

If you can't recognize that my namesake is a parody, that's a big yikes.

Look, the quick and dirty is that teams shy away from elite goaltenders in the first round. The only real piece the Blackhawks genuinely need to complete their rebuild is an elite goaltender. Auxiliary pieces can be added as the Hawks wait for Askarov to be NHL ready (2 years tops?).

Try not to get so riled up next time.

And draft the goaltender.

Dude, then don’t use words like “cowards,” lol. You point out a need, cool. You blatantly criticize someone for hesitance to take somebody, chill the **** out. No one is riled up, but just be respectful with your opinions.

You aren't making the pick. Don't be offended by anyone calling an NHL front office a bunch of cowards. Grow up.
