Description
Now that we'll get the 1st pick because that's something we can win, who should the Leafs trade for a top dman; the pick (Lafrenière), Marner or Nylander.
My instinct is the pick but trading one of Marner or Nylander would help with the cap crunch.

See that salary cap room thing? Ya, you’re instinct is wrong.

Doing anything other than trading marner for whatever you can get to shore up the d is insanity in my opinion.

If you’re moving someone it’s marner just based on cap purposes.

i honestly would keep marner (penalty killer and playmaking abilities) keep Laf (cause why not) and move Nylander. We got enough goal scorers and im proud of what he has accomplished. But at the same time, we need defensive depth and if Nylander can grab a top 4 RHD im all for it.

You realize Lafreniere has more value than Marner right?

To any of the CBA experts out there, can the leafs even afford Laf with the performance bonuses he’ll get? If those spill over into 21-22 that would be a problem.

They're all "no". All the Jones proposals. Every one.

Leafs aren't interesting in trading for two years of Jones with the group mentioned.
No team is trading their # 1 pick. The team keeps their pick and then have 9.5m in cap to sign another player as opposed to trading for Marner.
