I don't know. Cut the 1st and I'd do Nylander instead. Marner definitely improved in OT and I've decided he is amazing again.

This deal is very bad for the Leafs. Marner >>> Spurgeon.

Marner is overpaid but Spurgeon is signed for way too much term (expires when he is 37).

Marner will be improving over the course of his contract whereas Spurgeon will be declining.

It would have to be Dumba + Fiala

I freaking love Spurgeon but 7 years at $7.5m starting at the age of 31 with a NMC is tough.

You're joking right? Nylander was a beast this game got us into the game with his goal.

Spurgeon signed for too much term and AAV.

Ya I know I love Nylander. The problem is we still have a serious whole on defense. I'd probably not make that trade but not everything on this site has to be super serious. Just looking at the possibility.

Its him or dumba and spurgeons defense more makes up for any possible contract concerns and the gap between him and dumba in terms of age and cap hit

Spurgeon is signed way too long. The average player declines significantly before the age of 35 and Spurgeon's contract brings him all the way to age 37...

The guy that goes if we need to reallocate cap space is Marner. His contract is the least cost effective of the big 4.

If we move Marner it allows us to get another guy like Nylander and add 4M extra on the blue line or we could add a game breaker like Pietrangelo.

Well spurgeon isn't an average player, he plays a smarter and more physically efficient game meaning he'll age better than most Dmen

His speed will drop within the next couple years. Plus Donato is pretty useless for Toronto with Robertson playing the 3rd line.

A deal I'd do would be Marner + Dermott --> Spurgeon + Fiala

Marner >> Spurgeon. It would take a significant piece to shift the value and the Leafs aren't interested in late 1sts (they aren't rebuilding).

Now that could be an interesting deal, Spergeron has the best stick handling of any RD and can steal a puck from anyone. Sure we lose a 30+ goal scorer but to acquire a RHD like him i say the risk is worth + we get Donato at the cost of dermott sure.

i can see a 1 year that keeps him an RFA or you take the 2 years, he goes straight to UFA and you replace from within

true im high on abruzzese as torts brother (ironic enough) loves this kid and expects him to be big in the NHL. Plays a solid 2 way game and should be an excellent 3c for us in the future.

I mean I love Marner but moving Spurgeon (or any of our D) should net us the biggest need we have: a #1 center.

Spurgeon is the only d-man I'd trade for Marner. I want a center back, yes, but really just getting rid of his awful contract (it's worse than Marner's) is a win in my book.

I don't like Turris much either but getting rid of Zucc would be a win too.

I don't see either NYR (Lundqvist is done) or Jets (Dub is done) being interested in the other trade.

Win the lottery and pick Byfield and our FWDs would be set for years.

Idk why hank being done means the rangers wouldn't be interested, hank is still more than capable of about 20 starts and thats all we need

Nope Marners value is worth more then an aging Spurgeon+Donato+1st round pick.
