Care to elaborate on why? Raanta is a legit starting goalie and would form a great tandem with Ullmark for at least one year.

First of all, we already have two goaltenders under contracts for next year. They won't waste their precious Cap Space on a third goalie. Second, that's a huge price to pay for one year of Raanta when theirs a lot of good option on UFA market. Buffalo needs to concentrate their effort and assets/cap space on filling the real needs of the team (A second line centre and a Top 6 forward). I understand that Raanta is an upgrade on Hutton but not enough for us to take his cap hit and give you one of our better prospect and a second round pick. Maybe for a third or a fourth round pick but that's probably too low for you...Remember that Buffalo will have a lot of call from other teams to get rid of cap space and they won't overpay to help another team keep their superstar

Dude is injury prone, 31 years old, and gonna be UFA the next year. We're not giving a 2nd rounder and a promising prospect for that, especially with a bunch of goalie prospects already in the pipeline.

I know Fischer is good defensively but B's don't need him. Some other team may want him.

There will be a market for Raanta.

Other move to consider is Ottawa taking Stepan and Hossa. 2 million in real money for 11+ million in cap space (6.5 for Zona). Allows Ottawa to play more of their younger players.

Ya but not for that price. Pekar is a prospect Sabres fans are really high on and for good reason. He is very fast, plays with grit, great PKer and knows how to finish. Those are qualities our current wings are sorely lacking. I'd give you a 2021 2nd for Raanta but you aren't getting more than that unless you add more

The return for Raanta isn't all that important with this, it's literally just to free up money for Hall. I didn't think getting a bottom-six forward would be such a big deal lmao
