Sitting here thinking the Avs trade was actually better for the Leafs than the original CGY trade. Dubas probably would have found another centre but who?

thought the rumour was that Mark Jankowski was going to be part of the deal, who is such a downgrade from Kerfoot but Brodie would be the playing style Dman you would have preferred over Barrie

This makes no sense. You have to have a cap compliant roster at the beginning of the season. Having Johnsson playing in October makes the team non compliant Robertson and Clifford weren't on the team

There was a rumor at the deadline that Barrie was nearly traded for Brodie which would have given us the best dman and the best forward but oh well. I still prefer the Colorado return over the Calgary one due to Kerfoot being here for the long term but yeah

God Barrie has been a disappointment. I can't believe you guys thought he was good. The analytics said he was meh at best and they were proven correct In a big way

Yeah, Connor Brown and Mark Jankowski were also in the deal.

It’s too bad, because I think it could have really benefitted CGY and TOR.

You live and die by Barrie, really have to embarrass his free roaming ways and he needs to be on PP1 to get full value out of him. That was never going to happen in TO with Reilly, it was doomed from the start. Thats why Avs fans also have a deep appreciation for Erik Johnson who played so many hard minutes so Barrie could have the better match ups to produce points. Now EJ can have an easier work load with no Barrie and Makar here

Babcock had no idea how to use Barrie, which made a bad fit even worse. He was good at controlled zone exits with the Avs bc he would just skate himself out of trouble.

Kadri and Brown for Brodie and Jankowski....that would have been a decent little swap. I dont know where Brown fits on the Flames, feels like they have multiple versions of him already

I think he would have been an awesome fit. Brown is a guy who brings it every night and obviously the Flames don’t have many guys like that

was more that you have Mangiapane and Bennett, and to a lesser extent Lucic, that what I mean those hard nose type bottom 6/3rd line guys.

I wouldn't say Barrie has been a disappointment. I think he's played well so far in this series. Especially when paired with Dermott. I don't think Brodie would have been a huge upgrade.

He is being played in lower leverage minutes than Cody Ceci.
Enormous disappointment

Okay but like, he hasn't even been good on the power play.

he has always been good on the Avs PP, so I dont know how the leafs are running their PP.
He has lost so much money on his next contract bc of how bad this season has gone for him.

No clue where he winds up next. Wonder if he does a Shattenkirk 1 year deal for cheap
