Lafreniere 3 Little retires

Created by: MarkWinnipeg
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 8, 2020
Published: Aug. 8, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Maurice mentioned that retirement for Little as an option. Trade with Arizona helps their top 6 and gets them fairly close to cap space to resign Hall.

He’s factoring in laff bonus money, he knows that ELC’s go there but wanted to account for bonus. Not sure why but I guess it makes sense

Hayton better be the real deal if you're gonna trade Ehlers for him and two cap dumps!

I don't think the Jets are going to move Ehlers for two cap dumps and a prospect.

Was including the performance bonuses since you can't put those in when creating a player

The expansion draft also figured into my trade, we would protect

Laine
Wheeler
Scheiffelle
Connor
Roslovic
Harkins
Copp

only have to expose Appleton among our forwards as Hayton and Lafreniere are both exempt. Also have cap space for days next off seasons, if Laine, Pionk, Copp and Poolman possibly cost around 20-21 million. Have 14 million in cap space with a roster of 17, Vaisailin replaces Perrault, Gustaffson replaces Lowry unless we re up him. Even with resigning Lowry would have 8-9 million with a 20 man roster, should be able to cherry pick one or two really good players before the expansion draft if we we're so inclined.

Hayton is the real deal. A situation like this would be perfect for him. He'd be a terrific 2C who gets softer assignments since Scheifele is so good defensively. He'd be tasked with going to score and he's definitely got the skills to do that. Winnipeg should be desperate for centres, this has shown just how thin they are at centre. This is a really interesting trade, it makes a lot of sense for both teams since Arizona dumps cap but does get a player who will help them create more offence right now.

That is smart thinking. Props for this proposal it's one that is very hard to poke any holes in. From both sides it's makes a lot of sense. For Arizona, shed some dead weight and get a guy who will make a difference right now at the cost of a guy who will be really good in the not too distant future. Winnipeg could get their perfect 2C and can afford the dead cap. Well done.

Overvaluing Copp if that's part of the thinking, Seattle can have him, Ehlers is a damn good player, not sure I'd trade him for this.

I'd rather have Ehlers over Copp to, but with the free agent options this year as well the trade Options Cirelli, Domi, Strome they all have there warts I'd rather give up a major piece and get a young center with a high ceiling. Helps Capp wise over the next couple years and even without drafting Laff our left wing depth is

Connor
Ehlers
Harkins
Copp
Perrualt
Vaisailinin

Just trading from a position of strength to address one of weakness. We have Defensive prospects that will be pushing into the line up but lacking that high end skilled center prospect. Unless we forgo Laff and draft one of the two centers after him.

Tonnes of people on here say Matthews sucks defensively despite a pile of evidence to the contrary.
