NOPE your Leafs are in HORRIBLE cap trouble and need to secure a solid D like Brodie

The Jets aren't going to give you a 3rd for a UFA. The only way the Jets go after Hamonic is if he it's willing to sign a cheap, probably $2 mil or less, bottom pairing deal. So, he likely isn't going to Winnipeg.

I guess you forget he is super family-oriented and forced a trade out of NYI to get closer to home and wants to be in his native Manitoba and they NEED him. Nice try!

Didn’t Hayes get like a 5th for UFA rights last summer? No way do these players get those picks for their UFA rights.

Monster house just built on the outskirts of wpg, I’m sure there could be something done for the kulikov money coming off the books especially if he doesn’t demand too much term, he gave the isles a bargain a few years back, I’m sure he comes home for similar money. He’s not a bad partner for rookie heinola or even veteran morrissey, plays bigger than his size. For that token brodie is a fit also in wpg. But not sure anyone spending too much to jump the line for either.

Ummm... you sent him to nyr, you may get a 5th or a 6th for rights to hammer and Brodie but Forbort, you will not get anything.

I live in Calgary and cheer the flames... you’re not filling me with Brodie.... also leafs allowed 6 more goals than the flames during 70 games this year....

        Way too much for Gustafsson.

UFA rights have very little value.

Yeah, except he's not needed unless he's coming as a 3rd pair D and will sign cheap. Which as I said he likely won't do.

If he wants to play near home, we'll just wait and sign him without giving up any picks. If he doesn't, oh well, no loss. Nice try!

pretty sure you can't decline your rights being traded, you just say "no" when the team tries to sign you then they either trade the rights again or let you walk to free agency.

Unless you want to be sure to get h8m in a very tough cap economy then you get early access to make sure you get an underrated smooth skating D man. Think like a GM during post-COVID Economic times guys!

        .

WHAT? You don’t follow the news or evaluate your team well....he wants to go home and frankly he could be your top shutdown D-man there on a 2nd pairing easily because Jets D is poor.

We don't need to sign him nor will we likely have the cap space. We'll keep the picks.

Again in a super tight cap time with Leafs in terrible shape, you need more security in getting him so tradings for early access could easily happen

Yah sure we could sign Brodie but if we had to give up a 2nd/3rd then why not sign DeMelo or Tanev? Also, what stops Brodie from not signing with Toronto and just going back to Calgary? The last time a UFA was traded was Hayes who had already agreed to terms with Philly. They got a 5th, so I doubt Brodie would even get a 7th.
