Ferland to permanent LTIR and Eriksson to MTL

Description
I hope Ferly makes the best choice for himself this offseason. I'd love to have him back on the Canucks roster at his full capacity, but he's had a lot of post-concussion setbacks this year and you have to wonder about his long term health. For that reason I've put him on 'permanent' LTIR here.

The MTL trade is one I've seen a few times from Habs fans, and I think it's a good fit for both teams. I'm guessing the 1st would need to have no lottery protection, but with this roster the Canucks should be a playoff team again.

They also have a lot of cap room in 2021 when a number of their prospects should be pushing for spots (Podkolzin, Woo, Rathbone), some of them as soon as this year (Hoglander, Juolevi, Lind, Rafferty).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't put a contract on LTIR until training camp right? Does that mean the Ferland's cap hit would count until the first game of the season, meaning we only get relief during the year and not in the offseason?

Perfect offseason IMO
I think MTL take that because Kulak is playing really good hockey right now and Romanov is coming next year

I believe you're correct, but there's enough cap space on this roster for them to go over the cap in the offseason a bit.

Yes but you're allowed to go 10% over the cap in the offseason as long as it's back down in time

What needs to be added? Personally I'd still be happy to do the deal without Mete if it means the Canucks don't have to add another good pick or prospect. They already have options next year for their 3LD spot anyway.

Never reply to BarisBagel, he’s a troll saying Habs decline to every trade. Just ignore him when he comments Habs decline

Alright so we can be 8M over the cap in the offseason as long as we put 8M on LTIR?

That sounds more flexible than I thought.

I see this happening... Ferland on LTIR. However, I still gotta think we wait one more year for Loui. This year is the last year of unprotected firsts, too.

Not sure we need to add Mete.
The Leafs got nothing in return when they sent Marleau to Carolina for a 2020 1st top 10 protected
Plus Eriksson has 2 years left on his contract where Marleau only had 1 year left on his contract
With the NHL entering a flat cap era for the next 2 years - cap space is worth gold right now

Nothing
No way Habs take on that contract

This is not at all pretty mint.

We don’t have the cap space for Eriksson after this year, and we aren’t trading Mete. And this isn’t enough to get any team to take on Eriksson.

Fair enough if MTL doesn’t have the room. But I’m willing to bet one of OTT, ANA, NJD, LAK or DET would take Loui for a 1st. VAN may have to add a little, bit not much.

Considering you’re asking them to take double the $ of Marleau for thé same cost, I’m not so sure.

Let me ask you this would you take Alzner and a 2021 1st for Virtanen if Alzner still had 3 years remaining? I doubt it! Easy pass from habs
