First:
If Adams gave up that for Point, it would be trading a good future for maybe making the playoffs this year.
Point was obviously a steal in the third round, but his Junior career is not as outstanding as Cozens is now.
The Sabres are notorious at rushing players to NHL (Grigorenko, Ristolainen, Mittelstadt, Thompson, Girgensons etc.) let's not make the mistake with Dylan.
If Cozens' Junior stats are better than Point and this draft is better than last year, that means this 8th OA will be better than Cozens, and, I repeat, Cozens has better Junior stats than Point.
IMO Buffalo will need more players on their ELC in the next 3 years, Point's contract eats up 6 ELC spots.
Second:
Look below, there are teams that may need to send assets to take cap away.
You all know how much I disliked Murray, and one reason is that he signed Moulson, Gionta, Meszaros etc. at over $13,000,000/year then at the start of the season (3 months after Murray burned the cap space) the Islanders picked up Leddy and Kent Simpson for Ville Pokka, Anders Nilsson and T.J. Brennan.
I want Adams to be smart and trade with teams that are looking cut cost (Skinner, Miller, Montour all picked up for below market value as the teams were looking to shed cap).
@Jamiepo you said it best "I think buffalo has the players to fill out that middle 6 now." Kahun, Olofsson, Reinhart, Eichel, Skinner and any one of Cozens, Mittelstadt, Thompson can fill it out.
Let's not rush this, and why does a Leafs fan understand the Sabre talent better than Saber fans. Maybe it is that the nick name has the Canadian spelling, LOL!
Finally, wait until just before the season starts and maybe get Point or another player from the Bolts, Stastny from the Blues, Saad from the Hawk, etc for nothing or near nothing.
TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING

– Projected cap space: $5.33 million
– Projected LTIR players: none
2. ST. LOUIS BLUES
– 20 players signed for 2020-21
– Projected cap space: $2.05 million
– Projected LTIR players: none
3. CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
– 18 players signed for 2020-21
– Projected cap space: $7.35 million
– Projected LTIR players: none
4. TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS

5. ARIZONA COYOTES

Five teams in cap hell.
If Adams starts signing UFA's or making dumb trades before these teams start dumping cap, I will be really upset.
I know everyone hated Botterill but he made trades with teams looking to shed cap.
Murray never did that and it cost the team, if Adams does not, it will cost the team.
