Merzlikins looked a hell of a lot better than Korpisalo. Merzlikins had one of the best starts to a goalie career. 33 games-2.35 GAA-92.3%-5 shutouts. With the exception of his first year up, Korpisalo has been an average tender throughout his career.

Columbus might be buying in to Merzlikins too early, but its only a 2 year contract.

When did korpisalo sign the extension

Well who ever starts for CBJ's needs to get a shutout for them to win.

Hmmm id say because korpisalo has been inconsistent in his career even if he was having a crazy year before he got hurt. Personally I think they gave elvis too much

Korpisalo and Merzlinkins have both had great moments this year. IMO Merzlinkins got overpaid.

I'd take Merzlikins over Hellebuyck any day.

I think Merz looked so good at times that his contract honestly looked like a steal for a period of time. Now both on level playing field so in retrospect it makes less sense.
I will say this, you have to love (for the most part) how well they have been playing in tandem. Wouldn't most teams love to have 2 really good goalies making under 7 mill combined?
