Leafs 2020-2021 realistic outlook

Created by: acalza
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 9, 2020
Published: Aug. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is what I feel Dubus will pay. Mikheyev will get a bridge deal to prove himself after his injuries, so 2 years, still RFA.

Clifford for 2 years since 1-year extensions aren't popular in the UFA market, 1,5 million for a 'heavy' forward.

Johnsson moved since we have a huge surplus in forwards. Not sure if he will be exposed in the expansion draft, or traded in some way....He is a good player, just injury prone.

Our D is still inexperienced/crap though. (except for Rielly and Muzz). Don't mean to put shade on Dermy, Holl, they're just not as experienced, and D take much longer to develop.

Additional Details:
Johnsson healthy is really good -- I question what the return for him will be. He's cheap but injury prone....Not sure if we could also expose him in the expansion draft?

Canucks don't want or need Johnsson why do leafs fans keep trading him to Vancouver?

It's just a random team I picked lol. That's the trade format I have though.

They aren't deeper but okay I won't argue with Vancouver not being a good target.

I don't see why anyone would pay a guy 1.5 minutes to play 3-7 minutes a night. Clifford for 1 million or less otherwise he walks.

Miller Boeser Pearson (Toffoli) Virtanen
Hoglander & Podkolzin coming soon
Roussel Motte MacEwen bottom 6
Eriksson still 2yrs left

Easily deeper but not necessarily better yet but will be.

Marner and Nylander are better than all of that list. Kap, Johnsson, Robertson, Engval, Hyman and Mikheyev after those guys. Yeah TO is way deeper both with high end talent and depth plus they are younger as well

Soft as butter bunch in the entire league. Good for the regular season hardly built for the PO’s. 1 dimensional perimeter wingers as a whole. Lots left to be desired. LW is weak. Nylander is a floater.

1 Spezza fight away from golfing. Character is lacking.

So we are just going to go over the usual leaf hate rhetoric that isn't at all based in reality. Okay, well anyone that isn't straight up just foolish will see the truth. Vancouver's depth is not remotely close to that of the Leafs.

The typical Leaf hate knee jerk reaction c’mon geez. Is that the go to Leaf fan response or what? You should watch more Canucks games to see the wingers are deeper but probably not as elite as MM & WN. Miller alone played better than any Leaf winger this season & in the qualifiers. After that the Leafs get the nod on talent overall but not on when it comes down to the various roles needed.

Sure any leaf winger accept for Marner and Nylander. You are a homer if you think the Canucks have depth.
