This is exactly why I’ve been smashing my head against a wall lately with this site. These trades don’t happen regularly for this reason exactly. Moving firsts to move contracts is horrible asset management. To be fair to leafs on that one didn’t have a lot of choices since buyout was mandatory and it’s just unfortunate the way series ended. I do feel for yous sucks having your city host the damn thing and your team being out so early. I know I’m in the same boat different conference.

Don't give Marner 11M; let him take the offer sheet. Keep 5 1sts and 11M in cap space instead.

RFA with no arb rights... seems like we have to give him whatever he wants.

Dubas has done good things (Zaitsev, Muzzin, Mikheyev) but he's done a lot of harm to this team (Kadri/Barrie, contract signings, giving a 1st for a 1 year cap dump with minimal protection)

Everyone knows he gets pushed around on contract negotiations. Everyone else is laughing at the contracts we are handing out.

And proceed to be dog **** and miss the playoffs by a mile.
