Lottery Day

Description
Who makes the best pair? Which team is most likely to win the lottery? I'll pick Minnesota, since everyone is expecting Pittsburgh or Edmonton to win. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but if the NHL is rigging the balls then I think NYR or FLA will win - NYR because big hockey market, FLA because money-losing franchise.

Maybe one of Pittsburgh, Edmonton or Toronto wins as retribution for Bettman giving them a raw deal with the play-in, but my pick is one of the dark horse teams (MIN / NSH) coming up the middle with no narrative. You? Vote in the poll below!

Poll #3: how long after tonight's lottery draw before CapFriendly changes the Mock Draft draft order? It's been incorrect for months.

They're not rigging it. I want FLA to win. Not a central team and not a team that doesn't deserve him. Odds of this happening 12.5%

You've never watched magic shows? I don't know how they do those things either.

Do any of these teams "deserve" to win? If anything you could argue that Pittsburgh and Edmonton "deserve" to win more than the others, because they had sure playoff spots taken away from them.

Disagree, but I understand your premise. From my POV EDM will have won the #1OA.....5.....times since 2010 and PIT won back to back cups. Another team should get that chance. Id be more ok with WPG or NSH than those teams, but that means the Hawks would have to face him a ton.

If the Rangers 'win' it. Doesnt that pick get moved to Carolina, because they get the lower of the 2 picks?

I think it’s rigged so Florida wins. They get another superstar to try and make themselves better to then try and bring fans in the seats (obviously when back to normal) to avoid them from having to relocate

No I don’t recall any situation where the Rangers give the Canes a first rounder

And when they move to Quebec City, they already have a young French Canadian superstar (technically two but whatever) to sell tickets

It seems so realistic saying hey we tried to make it work by giving you a number one pick but then when they move they have him and huberdeau

Jets have to think they are out. They would have to have the odds come up twice in the same drawing. Luck strike twice?

It's a very Bettman thing to do. I'm actually in the minority in thinking that rigging the lottery in certain cases would be beneficial for the league. For instance, when McDavid was coming out, I was all for Toronto winning it because putting a generational superstar in the largest hockey market would be ideal for the league PR wise. Same with Matthews to Arizona- hometown boy goes to a struggling franchise, suddenly the Yotes home games are at 60% capacity instead of 10%
