Seems odd to fire anyone but trolls need to pick someone to blame for a loss when Korpisalo stole 2 of the 3 games Columbus won. Props to Columbus for winning but it wasn't like TO was destroyed, could have done either way. It just didn't

Come on...Toronto has no excuse, like Tampa last year. The only difference is that CBJ didn’t have Pnarin, Duchene, and Bobrovski. Toronto is the better team. They have an all star lineup. They just aren’t built to win.
Fans that decide the whole team and front office needs to be gutted after playing in a weird setting after no hockey for 4 months arent fans. There still need to be a few tweaks to on-ice personnel obviously but they were the only team that went to 5 games and we saw lots of upsets.
91 - 34 - 16 had an expected goals for of 96.9% at 5v5 last game and didnt score... just saying

Leafs had better scoring chances and outplayed CBJ in game 5. Korpi stood on his head, Werenski got a goal off a lucky redirect and while the team is a bunch of idiots for that line change, it probably doesnt happen late-season after playing a full 82 game season and going right into playoffs. A post here, crossbar there and Leafs go on to get cranked by Tampa in R1
Matthews, Marner and Nylander are 22,23,24 they have time, The "Cap Issues" this team has wouldnt be nearly as bad if the cap increased, but no one could have seen COVID coming, and you can't fault Dubas as hard for the issues (Yes he still did over pay Marner, and I don't think signing Tavares was smart) but Dubas is still a good gm who needs to learn and grow, the Toronto fan base is impatient though and rightfully so, but no, Dubas should not be fired
No. You can’t base everything off of one season. In the end, Toronto won into a pair of hit goalies and the rest of the Jackets who played insane. Columbus would have beaten anyone else if it hadn’t been Toronto. Burke had 5 years, Dubas has only been in for 2. He’ll be forced ti change his view of the team and I’m curious of how he’s going to do so. This year was more a year of playing clean up with Lous contracts (Marleau, Zaitsev, Brown).

Every team had that setting. Toronto was playing in their home city. Like Edmonton, there is no excuse for this. None whatsoever. A team that has Matthews, Mather, Tavares, Nylander, Kapenen, Barrie, Muzzin, and Anderson have to win that series. All are better players than what CBJ, ARI, NYI, MTL, VAN, and CGY have.

People forget that this isnt what Dubas wants the lineup to look like. We had to have a year of Ceci to get out of 5 more of Zaitsev, while Barrie didnt work out, it was a good attempt to bring in a defenseman who plays a quick style of hockey.
ALSO MUZZIN WAS INJURED ARE WE FORGETTING THIS!? Leafs would be moving on if they had him for the full series

It’s not just one year. TOR is not built to win. They have no heart.

No one made any excuses - CBJ is certainly no push over and played very well and literally stifled TOs offence - Tampa loses to CBJ again this year in 6 rather than 4
No. Lou was hired on a 3-year deal and he agreed to serve only 3 years and then transition to being an advisor. They didn't push him out, they stuck to the plan they came up with. And it's too soon to talk about firing Dubas, he's only 2 years in and he hasn't done a terrible job.
Besides, everyone says the Leafs are underachieving. That means that on paper, they're a good team, and that Dubas is doing well in building a team that everyone thinks is good... but that the coaching and players, isn't doing their job. And maybe Dubas needs to figure out who that is and cut them out, I don't know. But for me, the blame for this year's loss is squarely on the players and coaching staff.

Yeah so a team that focuses less on skill and more on defense has an advantage after a 4 month layoff. For example, does JT hit the post on that open net in game 74 of the season?

Home city didn't really mean much.. they were still in the same hotel as everyone else. They had to dress in the makeshift rooms and the Raptors rooms like everyone else. Not trying to make excuses or anything but that's what it seems like to me

They shot less than 4% in the series and both Columbus goalies out performed Andersen. That was the difference in this. TO did hold the edge in most categories from an advanced stats point of view. Defensively they didn't play bad. They did make some bad decisions at the opposition Blueline which kills them too often.

I absolutely believe CBJ beats anyone of those teams in a 5 game series - Islanders get the gift of the Panthers , CGY plays a Jets team with no Top C and an injured Laine - Van draws Minnesota and 35 yr old career back up goalie
IMO there's multiple people to blame, but I wouldn't have anyone on the chopping block based on a 5 games series play-in series after such a long layoff.
-They've known about the shaky defense for the past few years and haven't done enough to address it. Muzzin going down wasn't ideal, but the lack of depth hurt. They sat in basement of the league in GA with him in the lineup.
-Rookie head coach for a team that's expecting playoff success seemed like a weird choice, but I'm assuming it had to do with the relationship that he had with some of the Leafs younger guys. He deserves a shot with a full season.
