You know, I really can’t tolerate watching Marner play this way for another season & be made the scapegoat. Let’s be honest, the kid just doesn’t have what it takes to play in Toronto. A change of scenery is necessary!

I think this is very close to what will realistically happen.

I think its either you take this roster as-is, or you trade one of Johnsson, Kerfoot, or Kapanen for the cap space to sign Dermott and Mikheyev, which I would probably do. I would lean towards Kapanen, but the the fact that he plays the PK may save him. That way you push Liljegren into a more developmental role, and plug the hole you traded with Mikheyev.

Kappy is the man to keep, if you keep the "4" together for another season and fail again than one of the RW'ers (Marner or Nylander) gets traded, so you'll need Kappy to step up. Plus Kappy is the only RFA, all the other top 6 forwards are UFA contract ending.
