* EDM can choose whether to give CGY their 2020 or 2021 3rd. If they choose the 2020 3rd, CHI gets the EDM 3rd from CGY. If they choose the 2021 3rd, CHI gets CGY 3rd.

Pittsburgh has chosen to keep their 1st (extremely stupid move) therefore they have the 15th overall pick.

this draft is significantly better than next years, pittsburgh had the 7th best overall record in hockey. they wont miss playoffs next year they only missed this year due to the pandemic. they were one of the hottest teams in march.

I don’t know. Malkin doesn’t look the same, and they’re horribly coached. This could work out if they make the necessary moves, but it could also end up being very, very bad for the Pens. Although I don’t trust Rutherford to make them a contender again. Especially since they don’t have many non-roster players to work with.

But they don’t have all of the possible combinations.

I can see both sides of the argument ... if they give up the pick this year they're sending a message to the team that says "we're probably going to be worse next year."

With Ottawa & 4th overall I could see that. But since it's 15th overall, Rutherford could just say something like: "We believe that the 2021 draft is a much deeper draft and that we can get a better player later on in the 1st round." While it may not be true, they at least keep up appearances up for the players, and save themselves from a potential disaster.

Well, the players would know that's not the reason ... I get that it may not be saying "we'll be worse" and it could be more saying "there's a chance we could be worse, and losing 15th overall isn't too risky", but I can still see why it may have come across that way if they had given the pick to Minnesota. So, I can see both sides of the argument.

I probably won't have access to internet for a week, so until next Friday, this will be the draft order before we find out the result of the VAN vs. STL series and the MTL vs. PHI series.
