Haven't we all established by now how bad it would be for Ottawa to trade #3 and #5 for #1? Nevermind including #21?

Lafreniere isn't worth two top five picks.

Nor would it make sense for the Kings to trade the #2 and one of Turcotte/Vilardi.

The #3 and the Islanders pick would be the best offer NY would get from Ottawa. The #2 and a prospect like Rasmus Kupari/Akil Thomas would be the best they'd get from LA.

In other words, I think there won't be any moves in the top 5.

Not likely to happen. Sens won't wanna give away all of their 1sts. I'd suggest something with prospects/young players close to NHL level already

Ottawa Senators
1st overall pick

New York Rangers
3rd overall pick
NYI 1st round pick
Logan Brown
Columbus' 2nd round pick
Jonathan Aspirot

Or something similar. Basically a mix of picks and young roster players. Gotta remember Lafreniere hasn't played a game in the league yet and whoever goes #3 could turn out better. So it's a lot to pay for a guy that's never played yet

Anything over #3 and #21 is a silly overpay, and still really stupid for Ottawa to consider.

Even if Logan Brown isn't a long-term fixture in Canada's Capital, he's the kind of prospect you trade one-for-one to address a direct need. There's no genuine need for the Senators to acquire Lafreniere. It does them more long term good to go for quantity here, given how much quality exists in the pieces they have in quantity.

#3 and #21 wouldn't get it done. The drop off of quality of players selected after the top 3 is massive. There's nothing giving the Rangers the comfort ability of knowing the get value for #1. You're essentially saying "give us #1 for #3 and a huge risk".. Sens would need to convince the Rangers that the value at least equals out. A mix of young NHL ready players and later picks would add greater odds of making up the difference between #1 and #3

The value alone of the top-3 pick and a mid-first round pick is far too much to give up to move from #3 to #1. There's no justifying Ottawa making any trade for Lafreniere.

Makes sense for the rangers and would help them a lot but I still think they wouldn’t take it just cuz laf and the sens would never do that they’ve finally put themselves in a great position and stutzle and Byfield both have potential to be generations talents as good as laf if not better

Nope.

This would make sense for the rangers cuz they get Byfield/ stutzle who are almost guaranteed to be stars and could even become better that laf and a top d prospect in Drysdale who would fix the blueline problem that the rangers will have that will prevent them from ever winning a cup. This years draft is so strong that stutzle/ Byfield would go 1 2 in any other draft besides 2015 and Drysdale is easy top 3

I don't care, I'm not trading a franchise player.

Stutzle and Byfield are both close to if not franchise level and you get Drysdale a probable future Norris winner
