I appreciate the creativity here but I don’t think columbus will move Savard. I think it’s a mistake to believe they are contenders but hey, they are in the playoffs.

I really think Cernak is a better target. Even Hamonic and he won’t cost you assets.... although I think he may be going to the jets.

Columbus has received much better offers than that for Savard. He's still there. That should tell you how this trade would go.

I would say the value is slightly in the other teams favour, which it should be if you are the one asking.

Overpay to Columbus and still declined as they can't afford the trade and to retain on Savard... Holl and a 2nd for Savard is about the only trade that works.

Take the 2nd or Holl out and it's something I'd have to think about. I am not certain Savard would be all that great in TO but he would be lightyears better than Ceci.

I don't see trading Holl, he has cost certainty and has worked well with Muzzin. Kapanen and Johnsson are obvious trade targets, but I don't think both are moving. Savard is good but not tons better then any of the available UFA's.

I think the defencemen in the Demelo, Hamonic, Tanev, Vatanen, Brodie class are going to be better off taking 1 or 2 year deals to try and wait out the flat cap. I don't see Demelo signing for 3 years. If Toronto is shopping in the UFA market (if they can dump salary) that's where I would be looking.

After the way Holl played in that series, I'm not really interested in that anymore.

Yes, yes, I know, sample size, availability heuristic, et cetera. But the guy's almost the same age as Savard; there's not much room for growth there.
