It seems about right. Leafs overpay a little.

That should be the case if you're the one proposing the trade

Savard is miles better than Holl. Jackets aren't made any better by doing this

I've seen a lot of these Johnsson trades for a couple picks. Didnt get to see him play much this year. Did he have a down year? Is he more of a top 9 guy or is he an option in a top 6 ?

here are the questions you should be asking yourself about this trade.

1. Does columbus want to get better, or offload roster assets? (Do they want players, or picks)
2. Does columbus like the player you’re trading for, and do they want him on their team?
3. Are they the kind of team that’s in a position to retain on a contract?
4. Does the transaction make columbus a better team next season?

If the answers to those questions are: get better, yes of course they want the player, no they absolutely can’t retain, and no of course this doesn’t make them better then ask the following:
Is a 2nd and a 3rd round pick enough motivation to get them to ignore what they’re trying to do as an organization and deviate from the plan?

Hell no it isnt.

But with only a year left on his deal, meanwhile Holl has 3. Plus the picks balance out the trade

He was usually a top 6 guy, but this year he couldn't stay healthy. He had injury after injury until he needed season ending surgery. He came back for the last game of the play in where he looked pretty good. His trade value is more a mid third rounder now

it doesn't matter how long he's signed if one of the players stinks and the other is really good
