What would it cost? Mayfield is underrated but I don't think he'd be worth much more.

It's hard to not be biased but there are not many legit top 4 RHD who cost less than $1.5M per year on a long term deal

So make the 4th a second and it probs gets done if Isles solve their cap problem and can use LTIR?

Good point, But that's exactly why I think he'd be a good fit in Toronto. What about changing the 4th to a 2nd or adding a prospect like Timmothy Liljegren and getting a few late round picks back?

I agree that Dermott is better offensively, but Toronto would be trading for Mayfield's defensive capabilities, size and affordable long term deal. Also he's a Top-4 RHD, which Toronto is in desperate need of.

Mayfield is not top 4 d and the difference between holl and Miller is not as big as that trade makes it seem

I feel like Mayfield could be a solid option to pair with Sandin on the 3rd pair, but you’d prolly have to give a second instead cause of his contract being so reasonable.

Colin Miller is the exact opposite of what TOR needs. You need some defensive minded guys back there that will hit and block shots. Miller is all offense and a turnover machine. As a Bruins fan id love to see Miller as your #1RHD though lol

For the millionth time Buffalo has no interest in Andreas Johnsson or another right shot D. If you are going to propose a trade going to Buffalo there is no point in sending us pieces for the only 2 areas of 9ur team that we actually have good depth. If you covet a player on the Sabres make it a 3 way deal that returns the Sabres something they will value. As the trade is proposed the Sabres pass as it does zero to help their roster

He is overrated. Wouldn't make most teams but fits in the slow, stay in front of your own net, no offence system the Islanders play. Mayfield is worse than Dermott by a huge margin. Holl is better than Miller as well. All your did here is downgrade the defence and weaken the forwards.

This is going to sound a bit wacky, but i think to get the islanders to move mayfield and his contract it would take an overpay that would make your eyes pop out of your head. I’m just trying to think about what it would take make a team give up that top four D for 1.5 million for three years. I think it’s a first. No joke.

Every word of this is horribly incorrect. The forum would do well to ignore it.

He isn't top on the Islanders and certainly isn't top pair anywhere on the planet. He's a #6 if you have a system that doesn't require the defence to move the puck much.

He is in the Top4 of the Islanders, playing over 20 mins a night.

They had injuries to Pelech and Boychuk this season. Boychuks injuries are slowly ending his service. Mayfield, even without injuries plays with Toews on the 2nd pair.

Honestly it doesn't matter, he is a plug who fits in the Islanders system and Toews does all the hard work.

You are underrating Dermott's defensive abilities. Hes one of the better defensive defensemen in the league. His value is way higher than Mayfield and a pick.

Dont make a trade where you are trading the clear cur best player in order to fill a positional need
(Hall for Larsson, Kadri for Barrie)
