Don’t feel Lehner could handle the media, now would he take that little

Freddy is not the problem. You put a better D and a better system overall in front of him and there's no issue in net. Lehner is not an upgrade.

Lehner gets more than 5mil in the open market.
COL don’t need a G, but accept if they can flip Andersen (or another G) for a good return.

Why is Nashville accepting a Marner contract?

Just convince a 3rd team to acquire Turris for picks/prospects, and I think NSH might agree to this.

Not all bad NSH deal, but they would have to move some other contracts for it to work.

I don't think Lehner in the media spotlight would be very good for him.

What will Andersen's ask be on his next contract? That's pretty important here. I think Colorado would accept this trade in a vacuum, but we need to see how Grubauer and Francouz do in the playoffs before making conclusions about how to move forward in the goalie department.

Zadorov for $4.5m aav would be an overpayment btw.

they would probably have to make another move for cap space but they still cant score and our in real need of a high end offensive talent

used freddie to upgrade the D, plus 3 winner take all games where freddie has been awful cant take that anymore

Nashville would rip Dubas' arm off for this trade. They can easily handle the loss of Ekholm as they'd still have Josi, Fabbro, Ellis, and Liljegren to build around. Adding a player like Marner would be exactly what that team needs, and they can simply move Bonino and Smith to make it work capwise.

maybe if we gave him term, which no other team has offered him the last few years?

exactly, unless they are flipping Freddie, which they could do even retain some of his salary, 1m or so to up the value to a team, could make a little bit of sense, but in a vaccum the deal as a stand alone is a no for the Avs

Smith is a UFA. We'd need to move Turris more than Bonino. This deal makes more sense than Ellis for Marner.

I could imagine Freddy ( with a prearranged contract agreement) could fetch you a 1st pick + prospect (at least).

thats what penguin fans are claiming they can get for Murray who had a terrible year. At least Freddies numbers are solid consistently. Edmonton would be calling big time for a goalie this offseason.

Freddy be a Vezina trophy nominee playing behind any team with average defensive structure. The number of high danger shots/opportunities he faces is mind boggling.

I agree, would just need to make cap work. It will take more than Bonino and Smith to make it work, but it can be done.

By "move Smith" I meant simply let his contract expire as an UFA to free up that capspace.

its kind of the point of the comment section.

i just don't understand why you wouldn't want a good starting goalie for a 3rd pair defenseman. toronto isn't going to say no to grubauer for ceci.
