Description
Cirelli is an amazing 2nd line option, he could even become a first line center one day. He is worth every dollar. Rangers could really profit from Tampa´s cap problems.

Kahun is a versatile 3rd line player, could play 2nd line if needed. Strome is a great playmaker, I think he would fit in great with Skinner. He was on a 45 point pace with the Rangers last year playing with Fast and Vesey, so while he would never reach 60 points without Panarin he is a 40-45 point center who could really help Skinner to rebound.

Victor Mete is really underrated and very good in the defensive end. He is worth roughly 4.5 Mio $, but it seems like he is not really beloved in Montreal and the Rangers could really get a steal with him. Montreal would get a slight downgrade (in terms of public perception) but add another pick or throw-in (maybe interested in Anderson?)

Andy Greene is not a great Dman any more but is definitely a upgrade over Smith/Staal.

They have to get rid of Smith and Staal. Doesn´t matter who you buy out or who you trade. I would keep Smith. Maybe there is a chance you could move him for something at the deadline with 50% retained

Greene is an above average 3rd pairing Dman IMO. Great hockey IQ and good 4 way mobility for a 37 year old. Isles had a 67% expected goal share when he was on the ice against the panthers.

Too bad trotz hates playing young players - I hope the devils/rangers don’t go after Greene so he can play with Dobson next season

Obviously a small sample size but I have to agree with you. I should have clarified it, he is still a good player, but "just" a (high end) bottom pairing guy.

For sure, I wouldn’t play him consistently against elite competition, but he can be very effective against middle 6 players.

Doesn't Lundqvist still count, at least partially, against the cap if he retires?

A couple of days ago I read that it wouldn´t cost the Rangers, but I have not checked it. The retirement penatly would be around 3 Mio, so they would have to find a cheap replacement for Greene, or let Smith play

Then why did Vancouver incur a cap hit when Roberto Luongo retire before the expiration of his last contract?

The NHL punished them for frontloading the contract as much as they did

You can have a 2nd for Strome. not a 35-40 point winger

So if analytics were used to determine the value, why does Kahun have a better 2 year rating than Strome?

The Rangers would need to add A LOT as Kahun could cost only $3,000,000 next year and Strome over $6,000,000
Kahun and Jokiharju were absolute steals this year. Strome looks good playing with Panarin!

Never said that those moves make sense from the other teams perspective in terms of analytics. Same scenario like in the Mete trade
