I like this team. I just think Craig Smith gets more money, possibly 5 Million. He was sensational this season.

Yeah, apparently Toronto fans think that Andersen is a top-10 goalie in the league. But that is what happens to a fan base when you get to the second round of the playoffs once in the last 18 seasons.

Murray was literal garbage this series. Andersen was very very good but the team in front of him didn't get it done.

Even if they are even, or even if Murray is slightly better, the difference between the value of Andersen and Murray is not the difference between the value of Nylander and Letang

Letang has more offensive upside than Ellis. Letang is also bigger, stronger, and hits a lot more. All in all I'd rather have Letang with the listed qualities than Ellis who's just a tiny bit more responsible with the puck.

That deal is terrible for the Leafs.
If Ellis were available, they would be better off dealing directly with NSH for him.

Yeah why do all the extra steps and not just Nylander for Ellis straight up

Because the Preds would decline that too.

You'd be crazy to decline that. Ellis is like 6 years older and we all know his contract isn't going to age well.

That's cool. I prefer more years of the younger, smarter, cheaper player with better positioning, defensive game, and equal offensive ability. To each their own.

Besides, Letang is old and always injured.

Tortarella was right by calling out Toronto sports media. Either they know little about hockey and talk **** 24/7 because of that, or they just want to sell sesations. Some people think Freddie and Nylander are ****ty players, but they were not the issue (they have to take part of the blame, but there are some who have to take bigger parts)

Except he's only 3 to 4 years younger depending on what time of year it is. And Letang has put up several meaning more than one point per game season while Ellis has yet to do it and he's turning 30. So when is Ellis going to do this exactly when he's heading for the wrong side of 30 and will regress. And Letang is still good defensively he blocks a lot of shots just like Ellis and like I said Ellis is only slightly more responsible with the puck. I'll give it to you that he's cheaper though.

How do you know that? With his positioning and vision, Ellis' game should age better than most dmen.

Losing Ellis creates a bigger problem for NSH than Nylander solves. Swapping Andersson for Rinne does nothing for them, other than disrespect their all-time greatest player, in what's likely his final season. Giving away a great 3rd line center for no reason (with $2M retention, no less), doesn't make them better, and is just awful asset management.

For the record I'm only talking about Nylander for Ellis, not the other stuff.

I think Ellis won't age horribly when it comes to offense but will when it comes to defense. He plays a somewhat similar game to Doughty and Karlsson and those 2 have not aged gracefully at all.

3-4 years can be a huge deal, after players hit 30. While both players have had multiple injuries the past few seasons, Letang's conern me a lot more. Being partnered with Josi means Ellis has to be the more defensive player. GIve Letang's minutes on PIT's power play to Ellis, and his stats would be similar, if not better. Overall, I think Ellis will be the better defensemen for the rest of their careers.

given that fans from all 3 teams now have said they don't like it and their team gets the worst of it I think it might be a decent trade....LOL

I see this as a lateral move. We don't get much younger so idk if it's worth it

Letang is NOT getting traded.... How do replace 25 min each night, #1 PP guy, #1PK guy and #1 RHD dont exactly grow on tree's

If anyone gets moved it will be Geno bc of how GMJR said,
- "I'm not moving the Core but if I get a call i will listen"
He then proceeded to say ...
IDK why but this team tends to play better when 1 of the 2- Centers are out & I dont kno why?? - HINT - HINT??
