I’m not a Leafs or Wings fan, but I know this is absolute theft for Detroit. The Leafs have literally no use for Nemeth. The only space open is Barrie’s spot when he leaves, and Nemeth is not a top pairing guy

I guess they do this for next year?

Reilly -
Muzzin - Liljegren
Sandin - Holl

Marincin, Rosen as alts

Dermott is a redundant LD so they might as well move his RFA

The deal is still terrible because the Wings player is not an upgrade over any LD that would be being moved across. Toronto needs to make a bigger swing at their RD hole. Muzzin is not staying on the right if they can avoid it.

So you are saying that Sandin, Marincin, Liljegren, and Rosen are all better options for the Leaf's than Nemeth? If that is the case why was Cody Ceci playing so many minutes and not benched for those four? especially when Muzzin was moved into that RHD spot or in the playoffs. I think that honestly the Leaf's do need a RHD to replace Barrie but adding Nemeth as a solid second or third pair could be helpful with their defensive inefficiencies. Nemeth is not the only, or the biggest move that the Leaf's need to make on the defensive end but this is a move that can help solidify the back end without breaking the bank.

As a Detroit fan I have to agree this heavily favors Detroit and i would take it all day long.

Nemeth isn't even an NHL level defenseman. In what world does Toronto accept this offer?

No he is not worse than Marincin and Rosen. But they are extra defensemen. Why would Toronto trade Kapanen for a better press box guy. Yes Sandin and Liljegren are better.

ignoring the fact they wouldnt give up Kappy for Nemeth

Leafs wouldnt take Nemeth for free... the guy gives the puck away ALOT, has bad possession quality, and doesn't have the skill to help get the puck to the forwards
