I have no idea why he’s still showing up on our team
You also signed him as an RFA so u have to drag him to the delete spot. It should still keep him in the trade though.
And I was literally just about to make a Virtanen thread the guy is literally the perfect right winger for Crosby and Guentzel. He's got all the tools to be a great player whether he produces or not.
He's really strong. Has gone toe to toe with guys like Phaneuf and Greenway.
He's a very fast skater. Finishing first in the Canucks superskills with 13.47 scoring better than Horvat who got 13.42 at the all Star game. This also makes him faster than MacKinnon, Point, and Eichel among others.
On top of the first two he has tremendous balance. He's able to withstand hits from bigger players. Like Phaneuf. I even remember seeing his CHL highlights where a much bigger player hit him but Virtanen stood him up. Virtanen was also able to protect the puck from MacKinnon in a rewind game I saw which intrigued me cuz MacKinnon is also known as a strong player.
He's got a heavy and fairly accurate shot.
He uses his weight to his advantage and actually hits a lot.
He's responsible with the puck. And will probably use his body to check opponents rather than his stick. So he is decent defensively. And all of this would make him great for board battles and retrieving pucks. He has a lot more takeaways than giveaways. And I actually expect his giveaways to decrease if he can play with a lot more poise and stay on the top line as he has only averaged just under 13 minutes throughout his career and has never averaged more than 15. Some of his giveaway passes in the qualifiers this year were just easily mistakes that likely wouldn't happen if he had more confidence.
