I think the Leafs need to move on from Marner.

Kapanen is actually out performing his contract. I'm not sure why you'd move him. Plus I think Kapanen has another level more to give; I think trading him would be a big mistake.

Philly no 1 in east, and a possible lengthy playoff run, with a nice young nucleus, there not looking for a defensive project or scoring depth, going to have to blow there doors off to acquire Myers, provorov or sanheim in my opinion

This right here. Absolutley no need to move on from a 23 year old, 6 foot 5 inch tall RHD who looks to be developing quickly into a top pairing guy unless the return is way too much to pass up. Young RHD with as high of upside as Myers is very rare

Why? What has he done to make any of that real? Kapanen is at best a streaky scorer. He did absolutely nothing in the series against Columbus and apart from being a good PK guy he's shown me he doesn't have the skill set to be a top 6 forward. If we can turn him into a actually good partner for Rielly, that is a dream scenario.

Provorov and Sanheim are upper echelon defenceman but I think Myers is a really good support guy. He isn't elite and doesn't have to be. He's like a Savard type defenceman which I think is truly what TO needs but one that can skate with the puck better. Like Myers. I get why you wouldn't want to move him but a 1st round pick who is only 21 isn't a project defenceman, he's likely going to be a good NHLer and soon but is different than Myers. To be honest I think it's a matter of time before Liljegren takes a big step and becomes a top 4 defender but I am getting impatient.

I rather Marner costs 8M more than Kapanen.

Marner got 4 points, Kapanen got 2 points and Marner got PP1 time and played with Tavares and Matthews...

I'd take Kapanen and Pietrangelo over Marner and Marincin any day.

His upside isn't huge. He is one of those guys who compliments a top defenceman but will never be a top defenceman himself. I get the sentiment though, Myers is terrific. Exactly what I want Liljegren to become. I think the ceiling for Liljegren is going to be a guy who complements a top pair lefty.

Because signing a 30 year old defenceman to a 7 year 8+ million dollar contract is a smart idea. Kap is overrated and Marner is a 90+ point winger just entering his prime. Kapanan is a year older and has shown he is nothing special.

I just think your looking in the wrong neighbourhood, leafs need to pick off gems off lower west teams looking to shuffle there deck a bit. Philly adding pieces to push them over the top, rather than extending a window, they have an abundance of what your offering.

Anyone who's watched him regularly will tell you he probably has higher upside than anyone on our blue line other than maybe Provorov. He is the fastest defenseman on our blue line and has the best shots by far, being 6'5, a right shot, and being very physical are all just added bonuses. I know what you're title says, but I think the only realistic piece that gets Philly negotiating that isn't a huge overpayment is in fact Nylander

Fair. Honestly I get it. I just want exactly what Myers offers. A big, terrific skating defensively responsible defenceman who is under 25. Doesn't have to be a scoring guy, just someone who can make good decisions and keep up with the pace in TO. I truly believe in the system Keefe is implementing, I just think the lineup needs some tweeks. I am done with perimeter players who never go near the net (Kapanen) and really want a good partner for Rielly. Hopefully Liljegren blows the doors off next season.

Very true, Lil seems like a very high ceiling prospect, hopefully for the Leafs bluelines sake he adjusts well to NHL hockey

I'd rather trade leaf fans that don't understand the difference between a star and a depth player who floats.

Nylander floats more than anyone on the team not named Ceci but he's still a star lol.

I don't think he's what many thought he was going to be. I don't see Liljegren being a 60 point offensive defenceman. I think he will be more like a 20-30 point two way guy who is great defensively and can skate the puck out of trouble.

Had our chance in 2011, I wonder if jets take couturier at 7 and attempt to trade back in for scheifele being somewhat of an off the board pick, that they would have got away with it.
