Tampa rejects that trade for Cirelli and Sergachev doesn't take that offersheet. He'd be better off making 5M in Tampa than 6.8M in NY because of taxes.

Thinking LA will take Staal for anything less than a 1st is wishful thinking.

Plus NYR have a 13M in bonuses (3M for Lafreniere) and exceed the 7.5% bonus cushion.

I get your thinking but no, NYC state and local tax rate for that income level combine for 12.7%, so income after taxes is 3.3 mil in NY and 3.0 in Tampa. And before you bring up property cost, properties in NY appreciate far more than in Tampa, so that's a better value for money, because any pro athlete with a financial advisor will have them get a mortgage and not pay cash
