Cirelli offersheet

Created by: toque
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 11, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This obviously isn't a "home run" offer sheet, but it's one that the Lightning may not be able to match given how many of their larger salary earners are on full NTCs and the fact that the offseason may be shorter and therefore give JBB less time to make the moves needed. That, and I think that if TB has to choose between Cernak & Cirelli they go for Cernak (cheaper, RHD a bigger position of need).

Moving up to the next tier in terms of an offer sheet and you might as well trade for Cirelli.

Heinola needs at least another year in Finland or the Moose. I also think they will want Samberg in the A at least to start the year, but if he earns a spot in preseason you waive Sbisa or run with 8 D on the roster.

Nemeth is a 6/7 defenseman. I don't know why you'd have any interest in him, but it would be a dream come true to get Cirelli.

Yea, was hard to think of a decent 1 year option for the team. Cap Crunch coming next season so wary of signing a free agent to a longer deal (ie Dillon). Also don't see teams taking MP without giving salary back. Maybe Russell? EDM won't retain though

This trade does nothing for Detroit. Wings have more use for Nemeth than Perrault, Dahlstrom is 25 year old prospect who's basically an AHL'er and a 5th rd pick is borderline worthless

Hellebuyck was a fifth round pick.

Statistically speaking 5th round picks are worthless for taking on cap.

The deal does nothing for Detroit.

Anecdotal. Incentive just isn't there for Wings to make the deal. Wings already have a log jam at forward of older vets under contract and kids trying to break in while LD depth is sparse. If they sign Krug in free agency or you upgrade the prospect and/or pick maybe it'll make sense.
