No they absolutely should. Helm is one of the best PKers in the league, on one of the worst teams in league history. Sabres were sank by their PK last year. Helm also still has great transition numbers. And he'd be coming in to be a 4th liner, with the ability of moving up for injuries

As a realistic sabres fan, why would carolina and washington do that?

Carolina, I want to see what Carolina deems Fleurys value, why would you add 2 long term contracts at LD if you thought your 23 year old prospect was NHL worthy. Washington, I've done Montour for Oshie before to people liking that, but thats swayed in Washingtons favor, so I added the 2nd part, Buffalo gets a 3C that can play up and Washington saves a little money this year, then 4.5 after the season

I love the trades on the sabres end, however I just felt that maybe Carolina and Wash was getting the short end of the stick. I respect the thoughts and conversation. I would do all those trades in a heartbeat.

I dont like or dislike the Carolina - buffalo trade. It has merit. It gives a pretty good RHD on the 3rd pair on a shorter contract. Cap hits is about even. I dont know that we really need to do the deal and may be better off trading them separately. Now if the Washington deal wasnt to happen and we swapped Nino for Johanssen, I would do it. We get a benefit out of the deal. A good RHD and cap relief. You get a solid 2 way winger top help Cozens for 2 years (and is exposable in the draft). He could give you 50 points, he could give you 25. ya never know.

i dont see Washington doing that as it takes away from their scoring.

This pk is a huge point. And to piggyback on this point, our 4th line that everybody wants to keep together, they were part of the pk that buried us. Its nice that they can cycle and make okposo look like he has a role outside of the press box, but they barely ever score, and being contributors on special teams ...
