You forgot to throw in Mathews, nylander and Reilly in the wings deal

Wings decline. Not trading picks 32 and 63 for a rental goalie when we suck

No way the Bruins take that deal, we don't want Marner's cap hit when we already have cap troubles. and Pasta > Marner, and Studnicka can play 2RW next year. No need to add another winger.

Detroit isn't going to give up a 2nd and a 3rd to rent a 30yr old goalie.

This Carlo to toronto stuff needs to stop. It’s legitimately the stupidest thing, and how many asinine ACGMs have we seen with it? 20?

Its not a bad thought, moving a big salary from a position of depth

Although a lot of Leaf fans are down on Anderson, his value is really weak, and the fact is TOR has no one even close to him. DET doesn't need him, but he probably fetches a 3rd, but not a high 2nd as well.

TOR, in my opinion, has weak team defense, weak defense, weak physicality, poor system and needs more. TOR fans will put all their eggs in the sandin/liljegren/lehtonen basket and hope for the best on defense, but I think reilly is a weak number 1, Muzzin a good number 3 and Holl and dermott is a solid 3rd pairing, rosen and marincin are just #7 guys, but relying on two of the youngsters to hit their stride ASAP in the top 6 is a trap door. If the coaches cant change the system and teach the forwards to forecheck and backcheck they need a much better back six.

They need a foligno and a laughton (or debrusk/perry) at forward, physical two way players with hands and good hockey sense, who take the body, stand up for their teammates and can put up points.

IMO, the team will never take the next step without making a few changes. Value cost value, so say some variation of the Bruins deal (maybe throw out the BOS 2nd and TOR adds a prospect) and say kapanen for scott laughton, (Laughton had 9 less pts in 20 less games than kapanen, and plays a game TOR needs, and can play C or LW). Move Johnsson for those type of picks and stay well clear of a 5mil toffoli.

Robertson-Matthews-Nylander
Debrusk-Tavares-Hyman
Kerfoot-Laughton-Spezza/Mikheyev
Mikheyev/Spezza/Engvall/Perry/Barabanov/some 4th line hitter
(a much more balanced forward corps, with physicality and still a capable top 10 offense).

Rielly and Muzzin are great #1 and #2. They aren't the problem. Its the fact that we don't have a #3 and a #4. Just a bunch of #5, 6, an 7's. I think they need a #3, a #4, and a grittier forward group imo

I agree with you, but I think you split reilly and muzzin (two LDs), and try to get one of the youngsters in to partner with one of the vets. Having saved 5mil on marner, 3mil on Johnson and 1mil on laughton, then you find a top 4 RD in UFA (and theres tons)

If you want to trade Marner there is little sense looking at any team still in the playoffs. Those types of teams are generally not looking to make a massive trade where a chunk of their defense and depth is going the other way. Look for teams that are out of the playoffs, have more work to do with their team, and could use a player like Marner to get butts into seats after this shut down.

As for Freddie - maybe Buffalo - don't expect much of a return.

We'll keep our fourth and fifth rounders in this draft and probably get a better defenseman than Holl out of one of them. The last fourth we used on Henry Thrun, and he's better than Holl as it is. Keep an eye on Ian Moore or Mitch Miller.

Plus he is a UFA after next season and will want to go back to a contender

As a bruins fan I would accept this. Shame to lose Carlo but we have great depth at D. Debrusk is a good young forward. And we do need depth at right wing. Maybe if Toronto court retain a little in order for us to get him in the cap.
