I don't, Ek is too valuable to the Wild, we shouldn't be moving him. Don't get me wrong, I want Cirelli in the worst way but not at the cost of Ek.

I'd be more inclined to tack on Greenway or Staal with Dumba instead. Maybe throw in Khovanov if that's what it takes and draft one of Rossi if available or more likely Lundell and role with that.

Kaprizov-JEE/Rossi/Lundell-Zuccarello

But I don't think that gets you Cirelli. If it does, I agree with going that route instead. I like Ek as much as you but he'll never be a 1C. If this is what it takes to get him, then I say do it. Cirelli gets the 1C, Staal the 2C until Lundell/Rossi are ready, and maybe Khovanov will be ready in a year for 3C. If not, there should be plenty of short-term 3C options via Free Agency.

Look at that trade deal again. If it's just strictly Cirelli we're acquiring, then Dumba ($2M retained), Greenway/Staal (plus Khovanov?) + 2021 2nd. I think that should be enough to get it done.

I think many people are too eager to anoint Cirelli as a #1 center. While he would probably be instantly the best center in Wild history, I’m not yet convinced he is, or will ever be, a bonafide #1. When i “acquire” Cirelli, he is part of my 3 2nd line centers plan.
Regardless, I hope Guerin has the seeds to at least try to acquire him!

You dont need a top line to win. 3 2nd line plan is very smart and manageable

This is essentially my point, Lundell's ceiling is basically on par of that of Koivu's. Koivu's best years were wasted because we didn't have the scorers on the roster to capitalize on his strengths. You cannot sit there and not drool a little bit at the thought of a in his prime Koivu just getting started on this team with the likes of Fiala, Kaprizov, Boldy, Beckman, and Firstov in the pipeline and making the roster.

That's the beauty of Lundell. He's literally Koivu for the next era of this franchise.

If we could get Rossi, who is more boom or bust, he's either a scoring threat off the wing if he can't cut it a center or the 1C of the future that we've always wanted but never had before.
