Quoting: DH28Hockey
-I think both teams accept NJ trade
-At this point it will need to be reevaluated after these playoffs weather Ghost stays or goes next season
-Patrick is not getting a day longer than a 1 year deal
-Love Simmonds, too little cap space and too hard of a decline to bring him back
-Toronto trade is weird. I think it technically would be better value for Philly, but I'd also really prefer not to lose Laughtom for a player of very similar skill
It'd be wrong to say JVR and Ghost have poor value, they don't, but the way Philly is playing and the evolution of phillys young defense and LWs in Lindblom coming back so quickly, and farabee, leaves a stacked forward corps.
I put Patrick for 2 years at a low salary, even based on his prior seasons, hes a 2.5mil or more re-sign.
I signed Simmonds for his beef and fan favourite in 4th line time, but didn't really need to.
As far as kapanen for laughton: kapanen is a tad younger, signed for a year loonger than laughton and has much higher offensive upside (although only 9 more pts in 20 more games and used in more offensive way/power play), but laughton is much more the player that TOR needs: physical, two way, c or lw. Added mid level prospect strome, as the kid is huge with good hands, a big forward is what TOR needs (could be another Paterick Maroon or nothing), whereas PHI has big forward prospects Allison and ratcliffe ahead of him.
