It was Skjei/Lindgren/Staal until the deadline, then Smith/Lindgren/Staal. Hajek didn't play much, and Rykov didn't play at all. Fox was NYR's best defensive defenseman and DeAngelo was underrated. Chytil is also underrated defensively but wasn't trusted by DQ. DQ used guys like Ryan Strome and Brett Howden as the "reliable defensive forwards", and not because it's all we had, but because he truly believes they're good two-way players. Watching those 2, Staal and Lindgren killing penalties was dumb. It was fair to expect them to be bad, since it's a rebuilding year, but 3.23 xGA/60 is i believe the highest in the history of modern stats

Sounds like ya'll need a coaching change then lol

who's coming in instead? Gustavsson was terrible in the AHL this season and last season. Here's a statistical comparison of Georgiev with other current starting goaltenders in the NHL. He's extremely valuable and totally worth it. Georgiev isn't just a backup goaltender, he's a solid starter in the NHL, especially considering the atrocious defense the Rangers have put in front of him. He would without question slot in as the Senators' #1 goalie. 33OA is a completely fair asking price at market value for a goalie of Georgiev's caliber, along with the fact that Ottawa's prospect pool is stacked with tons of other picks in this draft

This is a comparison of Georgiev's production to other goalies through their age 24 season. he's in some very good company. 33OA is probably selling low tbh

Georgiev is a perfectly fine starter. Hes just not what Ottawa needs. Nilson and Hogberg on the books, Daccord, Gus, Sogaard developing in the system.

We would need to offer him a mid-term contract because long term would not be prudent given little trackrecord, and he would be coming up right when we wanted to start our competitve window.

I would take him as compensation for taking Cap from the Rangers, but were not paying for something that doesnt fit our rebuild projections.
