Can Getzlaf fill the 2C hole

Description
I know a lot of comments will be Getzlaf will never waive for Winnipeg or the value isn't fair. That is all possible, the fact is none of us actually know. I don't personally know Getzlaf and I am not a real GM in the NHL. My question is does Getzlaf at 35 still have enough in the tank to bring the best out of Laine and Ehlers? Would he help or hinder this team? His contract is high, but it's only 1 year till it expires.

You have to pay for Getzlaf. No one is dumping him, same as Statsny

Getzlaf is not a cap dump.
Getzlaf is our captain who still puts up points and only has one year left on his contract.
You will need to pay for Getzlaf.

I agree. Not sure what the motivation is for the Ducks to move him and give up a pick. Perreault expires after next season, the Ducks are likely not contending, so the cap space is a moot point and they aren't getting an asset that helps down the line.

I'd imagine that you are closer to a deal with Perreault and a second for Getzlaf (and possibly working in salary retention if needed).

They are not dumps per say but with Vegas' cap position, Stastny will be a cap casualty

So no none read the explanation. the value may be off, Getzlaf may not waive. Anaheim may want to keep him. I don't know. Local radio tsn 1290 was asking this question today about Getzlaf. They said, that reports are that Anaheim was exploring trade options for him last year. Whether it's true or not, doesn't matter to me. I was simply asking if he makes Winnipeg better or at his age worse. I read that he played anywhere from 2nd to 4th line last year.

Of course Getzlaf can and even with his cap hit he'd be worth acquiring but ONLY at a reasonable price,
its not worth trading an A-prospect or 1st round pick for him, hell even though Roslovic's stock has dropped I wouldn't trade him for a rental, wouldn't give anything more then a 2nd round pick or two but that's probably not even enough for Anaheim to even go to Getzlaf and ask him if he'd waive his NMC, to me as good as adding Getzlaf would be he's just not a realistic target for the Jets.

I read your description but there's about the same chance of Getzlaf waiving for Winnipeg as there is for Little returning to the lineup, which is around a 1% chance unfortunately.

Idk, if a team needs/wants cap space and there isn't much interest in a guy then he's a cap dump, myself I just don't think the Jets should be doing Vegas any favors whether Stastny still has value/use or not.
