Not a chance in hell. jP should get about what an early round draft pick gets.... $900 - $950 on a one year, “show-me” contract.
AA needs to be qualified at $3M and has arbitration rights (I think). It will be tougher. I’d offer him 1 x $2M, 2 x $2.2M or 1 x $3M ..... The 1 @ $3M probably means he’s playing elsewhere....

Well its been said Oilers might try to non-QO AA and get him for less. The Covid cap really messed up Hollands plans with AA i feel. Also I doubt JP gets more then a 925k~1M contract

I heard JP isn't signing for that though. Would you consider 2M if that gets him to come over or would you rather him stay in Europe for another year?

AA probably walks if you don't qualify him. There are other teams that could pay him 3Mx1 considering Edmonton paid two 2nds to get him at that cap hit and that he'd still be an RFA after that contract.

I just think he's a bad fit for Edmonton. He's got the speed but he isn't a good finisher which is what they need to play with McDavid.

I would look to trade both of their contract demands are $2M and $3M, respectively. Not sure what the market is for JP but if you can get a couple of 2nd picks, I think they’d do it.

Same with AA. What’s the market? Who can fit him and wants a player like him? Anaheim? LA? Ottawa? Nashville? Other than that I don’t see much of a trade market for him so Holland a little hooped here. Would Anaheim trade Silverberg (retain some cash) for a younger cheaper player?

Who else is going to pay Athanasiou $3M or more after the season he just played? Nobody.

JP market value is a second round pick right now (apparently they couldn't even get that last season).

Apparently Holland has been asking for a 1st (which no team has offered unsurprisingly).

They definitely messed up on AA. He has no market because of his high OA. Maybe a low pick 5th round or later for him by a team like Detroit that could use some speed.

Good point. Somebody more desperate? There are some teams with some pretty thin rosters ..... fingers crossed!

I don't think Puljujarvi gets more than $1M, maybe $1.2M if Holland is feeling extra generous. And that's like 4x or 5x what he's making in Liiga.

I mean last year it was said by JP's agent had nothing to do with money and would take league minimum. So don't know where the won't sign for a show me contract would come from but don't think the Oilers have the room to try a 2M dollar gamble this year. Next year probably more feasible.

The AA thing I'd probably 3Mx1 if it was that or lose him for nothing. Spending two 2nds should at least give the guy more then 13 games to adjust

Thanks for your opinion. I'd probably give AA 3Mx1 too and pray for some improvement to at least get teams interested. They gave up way too much not to qualify him.

I doubt AA takes a discount. His agent is Darrin Farris (same guy as Marner's agent). That guy knows how to milk a team out of every last penny.
