Buffalo and Calgary deals

Created by: FLPensFan
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 12, 2020
Published: Aug. 12, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Buffalo gets an upgrade at goalie. Pittsburgh adds another capable RD (they had interest in Montour before Buffalo acquired him). McCann and Middlestadt is a swap of players that haven't panned out as expected. McCann has more NHL experience and production to date, Middlestadt still has higher overall potential. All players involved here are RFAs with arbitration rights.

Pittsburgh takes another chance on a player that has struggled to live up to his draft status in Bennett. He helps by being able to play center and wing if Middlestadt can't stick with the big club. Bennett for Bjugstad had been discussed between the teams about a year prior, and I believe Pittsburgh backed out. With Bjugstad a UFA and injury issues, Pittsburgh needs to add a prospect or pick into the deal.

Pittsburgh adds Poulin, Joseph, Middlestadt, Bennett, and Montour to their lineup, giving them some added youth they are looking for.

Ullmark has literally only played 2 seasons lol. Like I don't understand your argument. Why would I not ride with an up and coming goalie who was better than murray last year.
So one you have to pay murray a lot which doesn't make sense for buffalo and we have to give up valauble assets for him again doesnt make sense.
This is such a bizzare argument between u guys. Like just keep him if he is so good

yes and thats exactly my point, Ulmark thus far isnt even a proven, career NHL calibre goalie. Hes been talked about for years by sabres fans yet spends most of his time in the AHL. There is definitely a chance that last year was a fluke and he isnt even an NHL caliber goalie. he has absolutely no track record. you wanna roll the dice with Ulmark, thats fine. but you cant seriously sit here and say hes a better goalie that Murray at this point.

He had 2 points because he's injured. When he has been healthy, Bjugstad has outscored Bennett ever season he has played, and has surpassed 30 points in 4 of his seasons. I do believe a prospect or pick would need to be added from PIT side because Bjugstad is a UFA and his injury status. If his back isn't healthy, nobody will trade for him.

how have u been on this cite for 4 years & only have 48 posts?, iv been on less than a month & have over 400

My lord, you live in a vacuum or something? Only the most current season matters in everything in your little world?

How about these numbers: 2.81 and .911 to 2.67 and .914. Oh, Murray's the winner there.
Ulmark has 3 career shutouts...Murray has 19....advantage Murray
Murray has 117 career wings...Ulmark 41....advantage Murray
Ulmark has 0 career playoff games....Murray has 51.
Murray backstopped 2 Cups....Ulmark....ZERO

Did you watch any playoffs this year? Murray was not the reason Pittsburgh lost to Montreal

Asinine is your skewed viewpoint on stats and player evaluations. I suppose Rasmus Dahlin sucks because he had 5 less goals and 4 less points this year right. He's so horrible.

dude you're weird.
Half of your stats are just murray playing longer than ullmark. And congrats on liking a team with two phenoms lol like murray was gifted playoff wins but okay.
Why is last years stats not important ullmark is trending up and murraybis trending down. Why wouldni give up assets and pay murray more than just keeping ullmark and getting similar if not better results.
This conversation is so weirdly personal lol

this notion that he wouldn't be your number one goalie is ridiculous. Murray is leaps and bounds better than Ulmark despite the rough year. he would instantly be your starter

Ullmark is our starter, Murray would be a 1B goalie. Don't pretend to know more about our own goalie then we do. Murray had a down year yes, but Ullmark has put up good numbers on a crap team

Lol except one team is perennial playoff contenders and one is not. One has only played two seasons one has not. Like have some context.

I'm gonna say it again this is so weirdly personal. Like go away with this weird murray fetish. Dude is average at best on a phenomenal team. he doesn't have value now and he is not worth trading for. And if he is so good keep him

You realize the fewer games a goalie played, the more skewed his stats will be? So thanks for helping prove my point. Ullmark has done nothing close to what murray has done. by your logic, Ullmark is also a better goalie than john gibson since he only had a .904 save % this past year

Rightttt but you can say whatever you want about Ullmark and its perfectly fine lmao. Funny how you ignored the stats and started talking about having a murray fetish. Seems like you couldnt defend yourself and have to resort to asinine comments

This conversation has skewed so far from the original point. The point was it doesnt make sense to trade for murray.

I think it's just a matter of the work Ullmark put in with our organization. He was a 6th round draft pick who grinded to come to the NHL and has proven himself to be a solid starter. I agree Murray has done alot more in his career (2 cups etc) but I don't think he would usurp Ullmark's starting position. Not unless Murray got back to his prime form and Ullmark dropped off
