This is a very interesting Murray trade idea. PIT gets a stop gap for Jarry. TOR gets an RFA for the future. If I'm a TOR fan, my concern is the contract Murrays going to want.

Marner is not being traded by the Leafs as he is a franchise player.

I like how the Murray offers are starting to heat up as the rumours do. Andersen will not become a penguin tho afterwards imo, since the pens will want to go with Jarry and DeSmith, and then flip Andersen for picks and prospects.

I am hearing from my sources that Anderson is going to be moved and Murray is most likely coming to the Leafs.

I'm no PIT fan, but why do they do that?

Anderson, has poor value right now after the poor playoffs and pretty pedestrian year, and oh yeah, hes a 5mil UFA.

I think hes taking the load of blame right now even though the entire team was pretty mediocre all year long, forwards don't forecheck/backcheck, defense is weak, the firewagon offense system is flawed, but Anderson is by far the best goalie in the system and don't think you get a goalie of equal talent/ability straight up in trade.

If anything they trade Anderson for peanuts and use his monies to pick up a UFA goalie. (The point being what team is desperate in the OFF season to trade for an older 5mil UFA goalie, when theres similar in UFA).

And while I like the UFA signings for their defensive ability, size and grit, none of those deals are even close to market value (Gudas goes from 3mil+ to 1mil? Engelland doesn't retire to VGS and signs for 700k?)

They want Murray gone so Jarry and DeSmth can play. This kinda means Andersen would be moving again (this is a 3 team trade basically)

So in other words, its a deal with PIT only to gift the Leafs Murray, and then PIT is stuck trying to move Andersen?

I get why PIT wants to move Murray but why on gods green earth would they trade him (and a pick) for an expensive UFA to be goalie being run out of town?

I know why Leaf fans want Andersen gone, but this talk of getting equal of fair value is ridiculous. What other team is desperate in the OFF SEASON to TRADE VALUE for an older 5mil UFA to be goalie, when theres similar in UFA? (and certainly what team looking to move a goalie wants to trade for a goalie?)

I don’t think Pittsburgh would necessarily be stuck as multi team trades are usually established before any trades, so Andersen would never step foot in Pittsburgh.

I'm not saying theyd get stuck with him, but do you think PIT will get better trade value from Andersen than Murray, its a bit pointless because the acknowledgement is that PIT doesn't need or want Andersen, SO WHY WOULD THEY DO IT????

(I know you just want a new goalie in TOR, it doesn't mean PIT gifts you one, in a trade they wouldn't make)

But Pittsburgh isn’t necessarily going to gift Murray because they are getting assets out of it. Pittsburgh is trying to move Murray as well, and currently their value is pretty even (though Andersen is the better goalie here), so Pittsburgh might actually get better value by using Andersen (who again, won’t ever play for Pittsburgh because of the multi team trade).

Never mind.

You aren't grasping the very simple point that PIT doesn't want or need Andersen, (They're moving a goalie because they have a glut of goalies!) and is arguably moving the better trade piece for a trade piece THEY DO NOT WANT

Are you reading what I am saying? Pittsburgh. Is. Not. Keeping. Andersen.

Murray—>Toronto (because toronto wants him)
Andersen—>To the other team because they want him
Picks and prospects from Andersen Who kinda has more value—Pittsburgh.

Note again the Lehner trade. Lehner became a leaf for about 5 mins, had salary retained and was then flipped and Chicago still got value. It’s not that difficult if you read. 3 way trade are very interesting and you can’t just write them off because “it would be easier for Pittsburgh to move Murray for picks a prospects straight up”, but yet the other team probably will want more for Murray because of his year. Andersen for Murray is the smart move because both teams would do it even if the value leans more to one side, and again then Andersen would keep moving so regardless, Pittsburgh gets the Same outcome (and remember, now were here Where the team that takes Andersen could just do it with the leafs).

If you think Andersen has better trade value, than the Leafs trade him. I just don't see the Penguins trading Murray for a piece they immediately have to trade.

I can see them trading Murray to TOR but not for Andersen. Its also the point of trade, in the off season with UFA goalies galore, Andersen has much less value, (and for a team that doesn't need or want him, he loses even more value).

Again, if you thinkAndersen is worth picks and prospects, Toronto trades him. and then makes a different deal for Murray, it makes little sense for PIT to trade Murray for Andersen

his mom told him the penguins will take the 30 year old anderson and move him for less value than Murray would get so the leaves can have a goalie......

There are no sources. it's just leaves being leaves

You do realize he is potentially a 90 to 110 point per year player who plays 5x5, PP and PK.
