if the blues were to attempt to keep pietrangelo, they would most likely have to give up someone on the blue line, *IF* they were to consider trading parayko to sign pietrangelo what would the leafs have to add to a nylander for parayko swap?

why would they have to give someone up on the blueline in order to keep Pietrangelo?

If you think its because of cap reasons then why would they trade Parayko for Nylander who has an even higher cap hit?

That Faulk contract was such a mistake, looking at it now

Oddly enough, they signed it as insurance in case they couldn't re-sign Pietrangelo; but it's actually a main cause as to why they can't re-sign Pietrangelo.

It was an absurd AAV. Actually beyond absurd. Haven't GM's learned anything from the Seabrook contract?

Parayko is essentially untouchable, especially at his cap hit. The cap space will most likely come from the forward group. Faulk isn't going anywhere w/o STL dumping multiple high draft picks and prospects in a trade. They'll try to get him going next season.

i dont think they will have to dump faulk at all... its not like hes 35 and carrying a 6m figure for the next 6 years. hes still in/entering his nhl prime.

Correct. Just b/c a player has underachieved doesn't mean he should be dumped. Faulk's game has been trending in the wrong direction for a couple seasons, but he still has value. Like I said, he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. STL will be just fine next season with their cap.
