I’m sure the Pens would love Bonino back but we don’t have the cap for that kind of trade. If you retained salary we’d more likely than not accept

Is Tomasino ready to play the 2nd line? or the NHL at all for that matter? That's my big question mark. Other than that, I'd be fine with this lineup. Tolvanen could even try that 2RW spot as he's playing primarily RW in the minors (don't know if he's ready either, but just an option). Then sign a 1 year bottom 6 vet in place of Tomasino on the roster. I would give Pitlick one more year in the AHL too if he's just going to be a 13th forward in the NHL -- resign Blackwell to take that spot instead. I would prefer a more defensive defenseman to Shattenkirk, but it wouldn't be a bad signing. Good ideas -- but I wonder if there is a way to trade Turris retaining up to $2m (worst case scenario - but just like the buyout you did) instead, since the buyout is much longer than his 4 remaining years.

I think, that Preds should try to avoid that "buyout Turris contact" scenario. It is so terrible to have -2 millions cap space for the next 8 years.
He is not THAT bad. Look at his ice time/situation and what he produce(points per game).
Trade with retaining, trade for another "bad" contract, something else. But not buyout...

the logic on this site.

Bonino knocks in 18 goals and plays well, has 1 year left on his deal and they trade him.
Like there isn't other dead cap on this team to move on from, you trade the guy who is knocking in goals.
Over here with Sissons as your 3C so you can probably under pay Hall.
