Your kidding right! Habs pass that easily. We do not need anymore LHD prospects and that 1st is so late it may as well be a 2nd!

If CAR loses to BOS it could be as high as #20.

Subtract Gudbranson and this makes sense.

I think that is too big of an IF. Still 20th + a prospect we have no room for is not worth a 25 year old 50+ point 2C in his prime that has potential to be even better than that. Yes he has had consistency issues but most of that is due to not playing in the right role. Domi is not a bottom 6 winger or center and has played those roles more than where he is most effective.

What if we did Gauthier instead?

No he is a bottom 3 winger/ AHL player we have more than our fair share of them as well.

try Kravtsov + 2nd

Gauthier is a physical specimen. But he'll never play top minutes in the NHL. Talent/skill level is just not there.
That being said, I'd take him on my 4th line over Weise/Hudon/Belzile any day! He's just not good enough to be a core piece in a Domi trade...

Take a gander at the Ducks cap situation and you'll see why what you're saying doesn't make sense. They can't afford to take on Trouba without you either retaining, or taking contract back.

Can I interest you in a slightly used David Backes instead?

This trade can only be made after we know where the pick is anyway. So its safe to assume 20-24 in this scenario. Could add one of Jarvis, Gunler, Reichel, Peterka, Mysak or Bourque.

Would you give Ryan Suzuki? (wishful thinking), or Bokk? or Bean?

Still a no Habs have enough middle 6 guys and bottom 4 D men we need that game breaker or top pairing LHD. So it would have to be Kravtsov + 2nd or Carolina's 1st + an A prospect that is not a LHD or middle to bottom 6 forward. In other words not Hajek or Gauthier! I don't mind getting Carolina's 1st but the prospect has to be better than the 2 suggested
