Description
Stevie Y knows Tampa best, and I would love to add Sergachev. Gourde's contract is terrible, but given a top 6 role in Detroit I think he could play well. Lindstrom could be a cheap option on defense for them in the future, along with the 32nd overall, I think that could be enough for Serg since we are taking on Gourde.

Then I have seen a variety of opinions on Georgiev's cost, but taking Smith would help the Rangers a ton, and the 3rd is still a good asset.

I say switch Smith with Staal and NYR absolutely say yes to that. Smith/Georgie for a 3rd probably 70% chance of a yes, switch for a 2nd Rd pick and I think its 100%.

He has played a bit at C and is decent on FOs. Better then playing Filppula at 2C

Gourde has been moved back to 3C and doing very well. Says something when Stamkos, Johnson, Goodrow, Paquette or Coleman are not at center either. Embarrassment of riches.

Why? For the Rangers trade, shedding Smith alleviates some of their cap issues, and I have seen Georgiev most often go for a 2nd and 3rd. Taking on Smith's contract would be equivalent to a 2nd. Maybe Detroit could add a little but I dont think it is far off.

For the Tampa trade, Gourde at over 5 mil for 5 more years is a ton of dead weight. They are extremely tight to the cap, and they arent going to be able to sign their RFAs unless they get rid of a couple contracts. 32nd overall is a very good piece, and Lindstrom is a former 2nd who played well and projects to be a good NHL dman. I dont know if it is enough, but I dont think the trade is a bad starting point at least.

I like the NY trade. Feels fair.
I think Tampa finds another team willing to give up more, so Wings probably need to add. But I obvi like it as a fan.

And I wouldn’t want the Wings to still go after Krug if they win Sergachev sweeps. One or the other.
Also, Helm isn’t a scratch, he was their best bottom six forward last year, and good on pk.

Yeah I wasnt confident about the Serg deal, but I think something along the lines could maybe work.

Helm is a good bottom six guy, but I see him getting shipped off at the deadline, along with Nemeth. So I left Helm out of the picture because I dont think he will be there all year. He would play though until he is gone. I was going to also leave Nemeth out because hopefully he would get traded as well, but it hurt me too much to put him out of the lineup lol.

1) The value of Georgiev here is not reflective of the value the Rangers have him at which is more reflective of his "on-ice value". Simply put, Georgiev's been a top 10 goalie over the last 2 seasons and the most valuable U25 goalie in the league

Screen-Shot-2020-08-13-at-1-28-58-PM

The Rangers know this, and have stated they won't deal him for less than a 1st ++. which makes sense if you know how to properly value goaltending.

2) It's just really not nearly enough to entice a deal at all. Gourde has had the same on-ice value as Larkin and Mantha over the past 2 seasons

Screen-Shot-2020-08-13-at-1-31-45-PM

So his contribution relative to contract is positive not negative. Tampa would surely get significantly better offers elsewhere. Lindstrom has little value at all.

Goalies simply dont get that kind of return. I do rate Georgiev highly, but with Shesterkin and Lundqvist he is likely the odd man out. The Rangers are also in a bad cap situation, and dumping Smith, or maybe Staal, would certainly make things a lot easier. I think trading the Wings one of their bad contracts along with Georgiev makes a lot of sense. Maybe the Wings give a bit more

Tampa has to shed space. Johnson, Killorn, and Gourde all could be moved to make space, and out of the 3, Gourde has the biggest contract. He is out of place in Tampa, and with his cap hit is dead weight for them. I cant see any scenario in which Tampa can shed Gourde without giving assets along with him. They obviously prefer Johnson and Killorn, and trading Gourde along with Serg would mean they can spend the money for Serg on their other RFAs. Detroit would probably have to give more, but I think the base works
