That’s a lot to give up for 1 year of gally

How about:

Nylander
Kapanen
Liljegren
Johnsson

For:
Gallagher (with extension)
Petry (with extension

Montreal is not trading Gally to Toronto even just for 1 year!

Kapanen and a 1st is too much for Gally at half the contract? Kapanen is a 3rd line winger at best, Leafs 1st shouldn't be 13th OA again, Gallagher is a top RW and exactly the type of player Leafs need. Might even resign if Leafs prove they are the real deal (need to find a RD elsewhere)

Sorry. But Kapanen is easily a top six winger. The only reason he plays third line is because he can’t comlete with Nylander and Marner.

Just because he plays third line in Toronto, doesn’t mean he’s a third line winger.

That might be of interest but I don't see Leafs fans liking it very much. Habs need goal scoring bad enough that Nylander could be of interest.

NO just cause he plays 3rd line doesn't make him a 3rd liner, but his numbers don't suggest he is anything more than a 3rd liner. Lehkonen has better numbers with just over 80 games more played. would you give up Hyman for Lehkonen and a 2021 1ST? I think not!

Kasperi Kapanen:
2019-20: 69gp - 13G - 23A - 36pts ~ 0.522 ppg
Career: 202gp - 41G - 49A - 90pts ~ 0.454 Ppg

Artturi Lehkonen
2019-20: 70gp - 13G - 14A - 27pts ~0.385 ppg
Career: 291gp - 54G - 53A - 107pts ~0.367 ppg

Kapanen is better in almost all aspects. (Speed, Stickhandling, Shot,) than Lehkonen. Kapanen hasn’t even reached his ceiling, which Lehkonen has showed what he can do in this league for four full seasons now.when given a second line or first line role, Kapanen flourishes.

Career high 20 goals, next closest is 13 (this year). Career high 44 points, next closest is 36 (this year). If Drouin didn't miss all but 27 games, Kapanen doesn't even crack Habs top 6... Please, stop thinking Kapanen is about to break out, he is what he is...

25 yo Lehkonen, no room for improvement... 24 yo Kapanen, hasn't reached his ceiling.

You are comparing your 3rd line player known for offense to our 3rd line player known as a defensive specialist.... What do you think you are proving?

I know that Kapanen is a top 6 winger. Toronto has used him in that role when Marner/Nylander were out and he did just fine. Has Lehkonen ever been used in the Habs weaker top 6?

Kapanen faired fine next to 2 of the best centers in the league? Oh my, he must be good.

Lehkonen has also been used in their top 6 over the years. Again, he is a defensive specialist and didn't benefit from being on Matthews or Tavares line. Again, not sure what you are trying to prove going after our 3rd line player when trying to prove Kapanen is not a 3rd line player.

EVEN superfan Steve Dangle and company admitted Kapanen is nothing more than a depth player and Leafs made mistakes in not selling him for a RD in the past...

I’m not going after Lehkonen. I’m just comparing Kapanen to a bonafide bottom six winger. Oh well. This argument should be expected when a Habs and leafs fan are talking!

Its just an odd approach, proving Kapanen is top 6 by comparing him to a bottom 6 defensive specialist. Would be better off comparing him to our top 6 wingers in Tatar, Drouin, Gallagher, Domi/Suzuki.

In hindsight, i should’ve done that.
