Not a chance minnesota or Edmonton bite on that, but i think the rangers idea is a really interesting one.

Wild were a goalie away from the playoffs and have the best goaltending prospect in hockey almost ready. Grab Fred for a year, Flip Dubnyk to the Sens(cap hit higher than salary, they love that) for a pick or prospect.

Minnesota just played the entire play-in with Alex Stalock as their starter.

If Hank doesn’t retire and now says he will waive his NMC, that’s the perfect place for him to go for 1 season. Saves NYR $4.25M and gets a suitable LHD. Beautiful

They get a .915 goalie and 44th OA.

I've seen a lot worse rentals go for 1st rounders at the deadline. This gives them a full season.

Why do they want a rental? Are they hoping there’s another global pandemic that will allow them to sneak into the playoffs?

If you knew anything about our team and series, you'd know Stalock was the only thing that kept us in that series along with Fiala and Brodin. He was fantastic. Is he a long-term starter? Probably not, but we can easily get a goalie without trading the 9th overall pick in a very deep draft for an average goaltender with 1 year on his deal.
