As a Leaf fan, I like the trade. It's a bit undervaluing the CHI package, if I'm being honest. Nylander is a great top 6 player and Dermott is a great bottom 4 D-man (btw he will be making in the 2 million per season range), but I think the 1st should be a '21 1st and have a condition on it based on either Chicago or Toronto's playoff success. Just my opinion, I'm sure I'll get set on fire by most Leaf fans smile Murphy is a solid top 4 RHD and Strome gives Toronto absolutely solid C depth. It would allow a top line of Matthews-Tavares-Marner whenever they need it without hurting the 2nd line.

Hawks run away from that. Dermott doesn't have a ton of value to the Hawks given Carlsson and Beaudin both on ELCs, plus Valsic not too far off in addition to having De Haan and Maatta, one of which has to be traded already before even considering adding Dermott into a crowded mix.

Strome and Murphy plus a 2nd at most and value wise a 3rd is worth Nylander IMO, we don't need to upgrade the 2nd or 3rd to the 17th OA in a deep draft for a guy we don't need in Dermott.

To me this seems more like a fair trade. Nylander for Strome, Murphy and a 3rd. Again this is only if I'm being honest. If I have my blue tinted glasses on, I'd say it has to be a 1st!

Makes a lot of sense for toronto (whether it's a 2nd pick or 3rd going to) given they need a physical stay at home defender on the right side and obviously Strome is a big upgrade to Kerfoot at center and can also play 2C as you mentioned opening up options. Giving up a dynamic winger, who's not great defensively, doesn't create a big hole given Toronto's roster of wingers.

Strome absolutely blows. He is so slow and has never been able to show he is going to be anything but a depth player with poor skating. Murphy is a terrific. 2nd pair RHD. And the 17th pick is Hopefully a productive NHLer. Nylander is an elite offensive player 1 year older than Strome and can take faceoffs and play centre. This is garbage. I would love Murphy but he does not come close to getting you Nylander and Strome doesn't get you Kerfoot. Why? Because Kerfoot can keep up with the speed TO has. Strome can't.

Strome was a castoff in Arizona because he looked like a bust, had one good season in Chicago and once again, Hawks fans want to unload him? Why? Because he's just not very good. Has hands but is slow as hell and just doesn't have what it takes to play the pace the NHL requires. He's going to try to get 5+ million as well and just isn't worth it. I would try to get Murphy but I'd do it with Kap

I’d take it if I were the leafs, as Risky as Strome might be, Murphy would definitely be what Reilly needs, and you might still get Justin Barron or Braden Schneider
