A 6th or 7th or an AHLER the guy is what 36 with three years left on his contract. Let's flip this around on you. What would the flames give up for Chara on the same contract? Giordano is good still but the risk is too high of his career ending in the next 1-3 years. He will remain a flame until he retires.

He’s ancient and making a lot. No one wants him. Weber would be the same way

I mean he really is worth more to Calgary than what they'd get in a trade for him.

Chara is 7 years older and didnt just win the Norris also gio only has 2 years left, gio isn’t like most players he doesn’t seem to be declining very fast and could be good until he is 40. Weber has six more years left and is making over 1 million more. Gios contract isnt very risky because next year he will still be at worst a top 4 defensmen which is still good and after that have 1 year left. I think he could be worth’s first or a top six forward

They aren’t trading him so there’s no point wasting any energy on it

I would never have made the Weber trade either and IF I could find someone dumb enough to take his contract I would trade it in a heartbeat. I just don't see any scenario where anyone takes on Gio's contract at 36 unless it is accompanied by a sweetener like a 2nd or 3rd or a prospect with decent ceiling B or C level

Flames like gio they would only trade him if they get a first back, a top prospect or top six winger, age is just a number until it affect play Gio is a top 15 defensmen his value is diminished a bit due to age because he won’t be able to maintain top level for 10 more years like most other Defensmen but but he just wins Norris at 35 age has affected him at all I think teams would love to have a player with his experience and skill. Your an idiot if you think that flames would pay to get rid of him so learn something before you post on here you idiot.also Weber and giordanos contract aren’t comparable at all.

I think chucky would be a better captain and the only way chucky gets it is if gio goes and LD Is their deepest position so they can afford to get rid of him and his value will only go lower.

Really you asked an opinion then don't like when one is given so you resort to name calling. I admitted that Gio is good and he hasn't slowed down YET! However how long can you reasonably assume he is going to maintain that level of play? 1, 2, 3 years certainly not more than that. The Habs need players that can carry them to the future not ones that will be retiring sometime in the next 5 years. Age is a number but it affects the value of a player especially when getting into the later years of their career. Weber is in the same boat. Perhaps I was a bit harsh saying that the flames would have to pay to move him but I think the ask for either Weber or Giordano would be more than most teams would be willing to give up for an aging D man.

Chucky will be captain. In 2 years. When Gio retires a Flame for life. You're a fake fan if you think he should be moved.

My heart think he should stay but my head says it would make the most sense to trade him and I don’t know which one to believe but I think if they do trade him it is only for a really good offer

Pretty sure Montreal's happy with his contract to be fair, yes there's term but short to medium future he's an anchor on our defense. On the long run he may regress to a 2RD but would still be worthy of his yearly 7.8M$ (Or close to it) and should he retire before his contract expires the recap goes to Nashville, the only big knock on it is that it's pretty much bulletproof to buyout as you'll only save 333k per year.
He may have had a couple of injuries down the line but is still defensively imposing and can put up 40ish points per year.
