Andersen is worth more than Bennett

Holtby will not sign for 4

Nylander should not be traded and will not get you Dougie

Mikheyev will get at least 2.5

Yeah, I was just throwing stuff against the wall, just to see what two way forwards and better defense can be added.

but I'm not sure Andersen at a 5mil UFA to be is worth much BECAUSE this trade is in the off season and with guys like holtby, khudobin, lehner on the UFA market, Andersen will not return his value, not to mention other goalies up for trade (Murray, Jake Allen, etc...) . Bennett is a type of player TOR needs, maybe theres a bit more in it, but I truly believe the off season market for Andersen is very limited and he will not return much.

As far as Hamilton, he is a 5.75mil UFA to be, and CAR will be hard pressed to pay him the market price for a 1st pair RD who is still young, and have the defensive depth to make the deal. For Holtby, he wants to be a number 1, hes only 30 and Toronto is probably one of the best places for him to be a #1 on a good team, who is in the market for a #1, and having lost his position in WSH, I'm not too sure he will just go sonmewhere for the money. At 4mil hes a bargain, but hes probably a 5mil range in the right location.

I actually still beleive in Freddie. You cannot blame him for the poor team in front of him. Look at Columbus. Korpisalo and Merzlikins both look good because of the structure in front of them. They allow shots, but not a lot of very dangerous shots. Look how Bobrovski looked in this system and how he looks in Florida. The Leafs have not a lot of structure.

I would still rather move Marner than Nylander. Paying the top 3 that much is in my opinion the main issue. Even if you get dougie, you cannot keep him really because of Marner.

I agree, the team loss is not on Andersen, its two way play, its a better defense, its a better system, etc... Andersen is by far the best goalie in the system, however at 5mil and a UFA to be and given a large amount of the fan base reaction, just interested in addressing team weaknesses and replacing Andersen with a longer term solution (albeit possibly not as good).

And you're right with almost 40+ mil tied up long term (and a flat cap for 2 years) in 4 forwards you are very limited in addressing team needs, and you're never going to get equal value or equal production in trade, but you might make the team better, by moving one and Tavares and Matthews aren't it.

Trading the johnssons or kapanens or dermotts is like re-arranging deck chairs on the titanic

I think most people here don't remember the Bernier, Toskala, Reimer etc. days. I think the Leafs did not really have a nr. 1 between Andersen and Cujo.

I would not even count Nylander to that. His contract is fine, he plays well. It is more the top 3 and there I see Marner as the guy who can be moved. Even if they do not get full return, cap space will be valuable too.

I would also move Dermott, just because I think he is movable on the left side as well, not because he is just horrible

Holtby could easily sign for around there, he's had a horrible 3 seasons or so in Washington.

Mikheyev won't touch $2.5M. He played half a season then got injured, came back from playoffs and wasn't the greatest. No way that comes that high

Ah the argument that Carolina cant pay expensive good players so we’ll trade for him at half value. Its like a cult movie. Its just so bad that you enjoy it.

You really overvalue the players that “have to go”. Get real. **** gets a hard No on all of those trades.
